- I have a white light on my "nightstand" gun, but not essential

Long gun
- Red dot 1x with fixed front BUIS and folding rear
- AFAB
- White light, X300 at 12 o'clock
- Sling, 2pt, but worn as necklace
- Ambi CH and safety, but ok with "standard"
- Geissele trigger
- LMT or B5 SOPMOD stock, but like the newer/lighter B5 Bravo stock

Laser
- Westinghouse M-25 40-watt phased plasma pulse gun

Coupled with a 38 spcl S&W bodyguard revolver with built in laser.

Sw 9mm with tritium novaks.
A very bright lion flashlight is in every strategic location around the house.
I've had the sw9mm for well over 25 years and vetted it for about 2 or 3 years before entrusting it as the sd gun.

I run it at least once a year to make sure nothing has broken.
Just last week, I did do the annual check and it did not like some practice ammo which was intended for my block 17.
I load glock practice ammo to nonstandard dimensions since the chambers are so loose you can fit a small car in there.

It eats factory hollow points for dinner and asks for dessert. Ie. It is crazy reliable.
I did observe that the recoil spring and tritium dots should be replaced.
Neither issue is a deal breaker.
Since I'm very familiar with it, pity the fool who is on the wrong side of the barrel.
Familiarity and proficiency is more important than fancy grips and electronic sights.
Being in the electronics field, I don't trust anything electronic any further than I can spit.

For defensive use, just pick a gun you like and practice with it until you are confident that it will function on demand with your sd ammo and you can hit anything on demand at a reasonable distance within a reasonable time frame. Modern 9mm pistols are a good bet.

I don't recommend excessively powerful calibers or excessively customized firearms which could paint you as bloodthirsty fanatic.
