Planning on watching
Scream 3 tonight. If I remember the time I watched it, it was disappointing compared to the first two.
I'll have to focus on the cast and trivia stuff to stay interested if it starts to lose me.
If anyone is thinking of watching
Scream for the first time, here's the overview:
Scream: Serial killer starts killing teens just before 1 year anniversary of Sidney Prescott's mother's rape and murder. Sidney keeps getting calls from the killer. Gale Weathers, reporter and author, never believed Sidney identified the right person as the killer who went to prison, and the new string of killings might prove he's still out there killing.
Scream 2: Sidney's in college, and the killings start all over gain. The movie opens with the premiere showing of the move
Stab, created from Gail Weathers' second book on the killings in
Scream. It's a movie in a movie about the first movie in the series.

The first suspect Sidney put in prison is released and on campus trying to get her to help him make money off their relationship to the killings. Some of the original movie cast are being murdered along with students with names similar to the first book's/movie's victims.
Scream 3: On the set of a new
Stab movie,
Stab 3,. The new film is currently in production and includes a new Ghost Face killer on the loose. "The murders draw a reporter, ex-cop, and young woman to the set of the movie inspired by their lives. They soon find out that they are dealing with a trilogy, and in a trilogy...anything can happen." I guess they had to skip right over
Stab 2, since this is the third
Scream -- and the triliogy stuff needed to parallel both
Scream and
Stab.
The whole series incorporates the Rules of Horror Movies, the formula for a movie sequel, and the final rules for the last movie in a trilogy. Kind of helps tie the movies together in addition to the Movie-in-a-Movie concepts.
If you watch the first
Scream, you HAVE to watch all 3. Otherwise, you just miss out on the whole horror genre and trilogy formulas. They make the movies make so much more sense!
