I did my application/fingerprinting over a week ago and my permit should be ready on the 3rd I’m just wondering if I can get something put on hold for me.
Anyone been to Any shops recently? Are ar’s in short supply? I’ve got a budget around 1k-ish preferably less.
You can buy any firearm before getting your permit, but the seller needs to be willing to hold the purchase until you return with the permit.
Most people get their long gun permit and then go shopping, since it's good for any long gun for 12 months. But, I understand with the extremely long reservation thing, some people might want to pick up a good deal/hard to find gun now and then apply.
OGC said they now charge a storage fee if you leave it with them more than 3 months, if memory serves -- don't quote me.
Anyway, you aren't supposed to acquire the gun without a valid permit. Having said that, long guns can be loaned for 15 days within the state, 75 days for use outside of the state. If it's a private sale between friends, the seller could loan the gun for 15 days while waiting for a permit.
If it's from an FFL or LGS, the loan thing is probably not an option.
