keep calm boys. Americans know better. We cannot be blamed for the actions of one man anymore than we can blame the left for the actions of one potus. Let calmer heads prevail and the facts speak for themselves. I'm sure this guy gave away signs of his intent. Probably LE missed them and explains why he was able to possess a firearm. As for the multiple  deaths and victims....... probably a gun free zone. Or a multiple victim zone as I like to call it. We WILL weather this. The VAST MAJORITY of us 2@ community are law abiding. The BS from the left will just dis-credit them more. Stay Vigilant. Our day will come.

I think the cops were lucky that he gave up. The reports out of how heavily armed he was along with the fact that he had body armor, helmet and gas mask, he could have done some major damage if he had exited the theater and headed out to the front where the crowd was. It was reported that they recovered the AR with a beta mag loaded, so this guy had quite a few rounds on hand...

already saw one report where they said he was armed with a semiautomatic ar15, which is the civilian version of the m16
it had a video of someone firing at a range and went on to explain that semiautomatic meant that the gun was capable of firing over 100 rounds a minute

I think they did a very good job. Go listen to the dispatch recording on YouTube. After all they were running to the sound of gun fire, searching for the suspect, and tending to the wounded/ dying.

I'm no fan of Obama, but facts matter.  Bush the Younger said he's sign the renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban if it reached his desk.  Don't just assume that because someone is a Republican, they're a fan of the Second Amendment.  Here's a statement by someone on the "right":

Whereas Obama is being criticized by some folks on the "left" for not immediately calling for more gun control.  Real liberals (like Thomas Jefferson) know that the Second Amendment is the last line of defense the citizens have against an oppressive government.

sorry guys. the story is on freedom outpost for the pro-gun story.

I lived in Romneyland and can tell you that his attitude towards guns is the same, healthcare is the same, state secrecy is the same, letting wall street criminals walk is the same, etc etc. Basically they are the same candidate, but Obama has more mass appeal and that's why he is going to win. There is no choice in this election. Don't get too worked up about it.

Columbine, Virginia Tech, Anschutz...clearly school causes violence. How much longer will this insanity continue. we must ban schools.

I'd suggest not making that mistake in guilt by association. There are plenty of people who view Obama somewhat positively who are ALSO diehard 2a defenders. About 75% of the people I know, for example. The battle lines over the 2nd amendment don't fall neatly along party lines.

More on topic: This shooting is horrible. I'm still waiting for more information about the shooter but for the moment it is just bewildering why he would do such a thing. I'm guessing from the descriptions of him... it was boredom. Like the jackass that killed his family, vanished into his bunker and killed himself when the police closed in.

CO is an extremely gun friendly state. That the perp chose a gun-free zone is telling.
