How will biden without the senate pass gun control? Executive orders can do no meaningful change. You cant ban assault rifles with executive orders.
Did Obama not create DACA, a 100% unconstitutional Executive Order, even while ADMITTING it was just a stop-gap measure to try and kick Congress in the ass to finally do something for immigration reform?
It remained in effect until Trump repealed it.
Unless challenged, Executive Orders can do anything the President wants as long as it applies to agencies that work for the Executive branch.
You know .... agencies like DOJ, FBI, BATFE, IRS, DHS, DoD.
For example, the DoD could make it policy to restrict members and their family from possessing certain types of personal firearms while living in gov't quarters or lodging being paid for by gov't funding (lodging allowance for off-base quarters).
The BATFE could ban assault weapons outright by issuing a regulation, assuming they do it properly this time and not try to sneak it in without first soliciting public comments (like they tried to do with green tip AR-15 ammo -- "Sorry. Administrative 'mistake'".
The IRS could go after assault weapon makers, parts manufacturers, retailers, etc. They don't have to find any problems, but they can still tie them up in court for years, costing the companies millions in legal fees to fight it. The Gov't has essentially unlimited resources when it comes to litigation, resources like time, people, money and patience. It's why most people settle with the Gov't if they can, or just drop the case completely. Battle of attrition.
Biden already posted a list of things he can do, like limiting purchases of firearms to one per month so he can prevent "stockpiling." Not only is stockpiling not a problem related to crime, but collectors (like yourself) will be unable to jump on a fantastic and rare opportunity unless the seller will wait a few months for you to be allowed to transfer 3 or more guns to your collection.
It's ALL gun control. Has nothing to do with making anybody safer -- except the government (from the people).
