What's the difference between mail to ffl or home?  Only difference is receiver.... you still trust the same mail system.  I would trust sending firearms to myself if I legally could do so.

The diff is 1 is where you live, and the other is someone else's place of business.  Would you trust mailing yourself thousands of dollars in cash?  Or would you rather mail yourself a check or to a wire type transfer?

We might be going too deep in the rabbit hole but,  not all FFL's are in a "place of business".  To my knowledge there doesn't appear to major differences in where a package is delivered.  You are not supposed to send cash, but I have sent money orders for purchases before, which is the same as cash.  And these in the 1000$ range.  And yes I would rather use the internet (wire type).   But I still trust mail.

To avoid a echo chamber,  I will be posting some stories not showing fraud.  I may make a new thread as we have a fraud thread already.  But since this will probably be a minority discussion I am putting it in this thread for now.

A money order is not cash.  If it is lost, it can be reissued.  So would you send thousands in CASH to yourself? Say you hit a jackpot in Vegas worth $40,000.  Would you mail it to your mailbox?

Even if a FFL is not in a place of business, they are definitely not your home or your office.  So what you're saying doesn't apply.

It isn't cash?  I thought anyone can cash it so if you found it on the street its like having a check addressed to cash.  If I did win the lotto and there was no way to send the money back other than mail, yes I would mail it to myself. I am not saying mail is 100%, but 99.9%  reliable. I would also choose the better way within reason, If the convenience outweighed the risk I would do mail.  For example I win the lotto of 10k but if I want to 100% it, I would have to fly up and spend 2,000$ on tickets and luggage.  Or send that in the mail with tracking.  I would choose the mail.

If you can issue a stop-payment on a cashier's check before it's cashed, you can prevent the theft.  After it's cashed, the only way it won't be honored by the issuing bank is if it was altered.

Cashier's checks are made out to a specific party, usually a company with your account number and so on.  Finding that on the street would require you to have credentials proving you are the named payee, or you'd have to alter the check to add your name.

If you're stupid enough to put your real name on an altered cashier's check, you're taking a huge gamble!    :geekdanc:

A money order, however, IS similar to cash as long as you left the name field blank when you lost it, or if you filled in the name of the scammer (fake-ID-holding scammer).

But, as with bank checks/cashier's checks, a money order can be canceled if you call customer service and verify it has not been cashed.  You can expect to wait up to 8 weeks for a refund or newly issued money order (your choice).  You will also be charged a cancellation fee.

it really is important to understand what types of financial instruments exist and how they work -- not only in the majority of cases, but also in "what if" cases like theft, scams, lost instruments or just wanting to cancel.  Many of these services are available online, just like paypal.

Yes, these services can charge a fee, but so does PayPal  --  unless you're a cheap, lowlife, no-integrity bastard who chooses to lie to PayPal about the nature of the transaction, thereby committing fraud, violating the terms of service, and bypassing the very fraud protections for which most people choose to use PayPal.

Interesting.  What about a USPS money order?  I mostly used those.   The one you pay cash to usps.

All money transfer methods are available. Mail cash, wire, make a cashiers check, make a money order, casino check, etc...

Its obvious youre avoiding saying you wont mail yourself 40k in cash. Thank you for proving my point about the mail.

And no money orders are not cash. They are bought with cash. I hope you didnt get scammed via money order. "Here i sent u too much, please deposit this and wire me the difference".

We’ve reported on numerous events identified in the 2020 election already which are being
referred to as ‘glitches’ by the Democrats.  Tonight we just uncovered another ‘glitch’ in Wisconsin.

When this one is confirmed it will result in a 19,500 vote gain for Trump making the Wisconsin
race a total toss-up.

Then in Pennsylvania a ‘glitch’ was uncovered where nearly 20,000 votes were moved from President Trump
to Biden.

When this is confirmed it will result Biden’s lead being cut by 40,000 votes in Pennsylvania bringing this race
back to even.

What worries me is that there will be recounts based on these "toss-up" numbers.  How can we trust a recount when the original count was so screwed up?

It's like suing over horrible service and being awarded free services for a year from that company as a settlement.   :wtf:

Remember what Joe Biden did to Supreme Court Nominee Clarence Thomas?

Remember what Kamala Harris did to Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh?

It will be delicious if the Supreme Court rules Trump won due to excessive irregularities on the part of several state election processes and many witness statements claiming fraud.

Stop the counting.

Trump has just been reelected.

Go look up the definition of "karma."

can't believe you knuckleheads are arguing over something like this. . .
There are legit escrow services that anyone can use to secure a transaction. The buyer sends the money to escrow. Escrow verifies the funds arrived and are good. The seller sends the item(s) to the FFL or to the buyer directly. Once the goods are verified in the possession of the buyer the escrow company releases the funds to the seller. Very much the same way escrow works for home purchases. Since escrow services secures the transaction for both seller and buyer an honest seller would not balk at using an escrow service. But a scammer certainly would. So in the case of purchasing something from an unknown seller all one has to do is to “suggest” using an escrow service to the seller to secure the transaction. If they are a scammer they will argue with you about it or you will never hear from them again. If they are for real they have no argument against using the service. Even if the seller agrees to use escrow, it might just be enough of a “test” to see if the seller is honest. In that case you may decide not to use the escrow service if after they accept you feel the seller is on the up and up. The nice thing about using an escrow service is that they can enforce any 2 or 3 day inspection period for returns as well.

There are such easy ways of preventing oneself from being ripped off it is laughable. And the stupid thing about this is that you can Google how not to get ripped off from a dishonest seller.
