Given the inherent nature trying to understand and predict something like this, wouldn't we expect a certain amount of uncertainty? Wouldn't we expect a certain amount of inaccurate predictions? Wouldn't we expect quite a bit of variation considering that we are able to influence the outcome thereby affecting the predictions?

The CDC and WHO are not supposed to make this many mistakes.  Instead, they should say we don't know, but are looking at it.  Or doing X might help, but again we don't know for sure yet because it's so new.

I get where you're coming from, but that would apply to non professionals. 

Let me pose this question, what if Fauci hadn't lied and instead told us all that masks do help and we should all get them? We would likely have seen a worse run on them and we would have risked hospitals and first responders without sufficient protective gear. This may have meant more dead or more sick (and out of commission) medical personnel which would/could have made things worse.

It's the hospitals job to be stocked with supplies.  Especially cheap stuff like N95 grade mask.  I can understand not having $10,000 machines being stocked for extra just in case, but a mask that cost $3 each isn't so much to ask for.  This goes as well with other cheaper stuff like gloves, gowns, etc...

We were watching this back in December and stocked up appropriately.  If a common citizen was aware of something, whey wasn't the hospitals more prepared?  It comes down to them making money and not spending an extra $100,000 on n95 medical mask (the blue ones).  Then followed up by the manufacturers not paying attention also to world wide situations and being able to ramp up production to make more money as well.

Flapp did post a while ago about the logistics about cities like NYC and how many mask they would go thru.   So that also is a factor, but I still say no excuse.

Same like Green, we was caught multiple times not wearing a mask properly, yet he tells people to wear a mask. And as a real doctor, we expect him to follow what he's saying to the T.  Compared to Ige or Kirk who tells us this, I give them a little more leeway than Green for wearing a mask wrong.  When I'm out in public, my mask is always on correctly, even if I'm alone walking on a sidewalk.  So there is no excuse for Green not to be doing the same.

I don't think this is something we could have expected hospitals to be that prepared for though. Part of the problem was so many masks seem to be made overseas and it was a worldwide pandemic so suddenly our orders for masks from overseas had to get in line with every other country's. Regardless, even if we make the argument that hospitals failed to stock enough supplies, that wouldn't change the issue of Dr. Fauci telling us we didn't need to rush out and buy masks.

Covid clearly has that 99.x%+ survival rate.  All those extra deaths must be because of other causes....

Things are almost never absolutes...You can have varying degrees of success.  Just like certain cars can go faster than others, certain masks are more effective than others.  But no car and no mask is the worst. 

There also some evidence that the psychological presence of masks or worry can cause those to practice better distancing and hygiene habits.  That is also a part of successfully preventing covid.

Austrian FPÖ Member of Parliament Michael Schnedlitz administered a COVID-19 PCR test to the beverage Coca Cola in the plenum before his colleagues. The popular drink tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

He said he was performing the test live before parliament: “so you can see how worthless and misguided these mass tests are.”

He continued: “The evidence is overwhelming, starting with the absolutely absurd mass tests that are currently being carried out, which are nothing more than a large-scale redistribution of tens of millions of euros in tax money from the population…it can’t go on like this.”

I have a friend who wanted to bring in a mask machine for personal usage, not retail.  It cost about $40,000.  Hawaii denied him a permit to operate the machine, even if only for personal usage.  So he couldn't bring it in.  This was in December/Jan.  He also keeps tabs on China.

You can't just magic infrastructure to produce more or predict the future.  Look at the ammo shortage.  If it was that easy and free money,  we wouldn't have an ammo shortage, ammo companies would just produce more to satiate demand.

Though you made an interesting point about your friend, that's wrong and shouldn't happen.  I wonder the reasoning they had.
