Still waiting on specifics for the eef plan to lock up sick people but my guess is that only solutions that require millions of dollars in police overtime will be considered

This one was from way back in April.

So, this is how Liberty dies… with thunderous applause?
We are seeing the most draconian measures enforced at all levels of government that we’ve ever seen in our lifetimes, and yet, rather than being alarmed by the things going on, so many of you applaud.

People are being arrested for spending too much time outside, and you applaud. Pastors are being arrested for daring to hold church services, and you applaud. A child’s birthday party is raided by police, and you applaud. A young woman is ticketed for going on a leisurely drive alone because it’s deemed “non-essential travel”, and you applaud. A parade of school teachers and administrators who wanted to drive through neighborhoods and wave at children is busted up by cops because they were “nonessential”, and you applaud. A lone paddle-border in the ocean on a beach without any other people around is arrested because he’s violating quarantine orders, and you applaud.

People are being denied life saving medical treatments because they’re not a priority right now (not “essential” as deemed by the government) as the entirety of our medical system is focused on one thing, and you applaud.

Businesses are beings forcibly closed and padlocked and owners arrested for refusing to shut down, and you applaud. Dairy farmers (and soon, other farmers) are being incentivized to stop dairy farming, dump their milk, and sell their herds, and you don’t seem to understand the implications.

You’re being told to use hotlines and online forms provided by your local governments to report your neighbors who don’t obey, and you comply. You scold people day after day for not obeying government edicts, and if any of us dare to question what’s happening, you lecture about how we’re selfish, a danger to society, and we just don’t care about people dying.

You’ve somehow managed to convince yourselves that the people whose lives are affected by a virus are MUCH more important than the people whose lives are being destroyed (and in many cases, leading to death) by the effects of a worldwide economic shutdown and impending worldwide depression the likes of which no one has ever seen before.

At what point will you start QUESTIONING what’s going on? How far does the government have to push before you’re jolted awake from your slumber? How far are you willing to go with this?

If they told you to load your families onto train cars so that you could be taken to Virus Protection Facilities for your own safety, would you do it?

can the govt detain you for being drunk at home with a car in your garage? Drunk + driving = kills. The potential is there for you to kill someone.....

they should, because we all value safety over everything...

There's only one way to be certain that a person will not harm any other person, in any way, under any circumstances.

The vaccines might do the same thing only slower and more painfully. We really have no idea at this point and I’m seriously concerned that I will have to leave my job if my employer forces everyone to take it

Everyone who disagrees with you is a conspiracy theorist. Try adulting harder

Again you used the one person with Ebola as an example but you want unlimited power to detain an unspecified number of people based on what? A medical diagnosis? Party loyalty? Feels? Very disingenuous.

Strawman, I never made such an argument.

Can you please answer the question I posed?

How many people broke quarantine/self-isolation after testing positive?  We know for a fact the NY Governor's brother who works for CNN, Chris Cuomo, did.  There were several visitors in HI who did.

When you say the gov't has the authority to "restrict" your movement, how, exactly, are they authorized to do that?  Ankle bracelets?  Incarceration?  Bail bond?  Force, up to and including lethal force?

Lethal force might sound excessive, but when your rhetoric whirls around how someone who carries the virus is potentially killing people, that's the path you seem to be running down at breakneck speed.

The point of my question is to make people think whether there are situations where you would want people to be forcefully quarantined in a medical situation. And I am not talking about covid specifically, I am talking in general about whether that is a power that we want the government to be able to possess.

I think everyone here can imagine the worst case scenario of politically aimed concentration camps like North Korea but we must also consider the flip side as well in considering how much power we want to give the government. If we say the government should never have the power to confine someone with a deadly disease then we must admit that such a decision would allow an individual with Ebola, or Bubonic Plague, etc. to walk around if they so please. Now maybe you feel that this is an acceptable cost in order to make sure the government can never abuse such a power and if that is the case then so be it. I think it is something we can manage as a country, to use the authority in a limited scope without any serious abuse.

Again, I am speaking generally here, not saying we need to lock up people with covid. Only saying that I think taking away the power to lock up someone infected with a deadly virulent disease is short sighted. Heaven forbid there is an Ebola outbreak and there are those few idiots who say they don't care and go out spreading it.

...use the authority in a limited scope without any serious abuse.
Only a useful idiot or intentional propagandist could write such an overtly ludicrous statement on January 8, 2021.

PS Why are you okay with unserious abuse?

Have you ever seen someone with ebola or bubonic plague? They are not exactly in shape to go out to a club and dance all night.

It would be one thing if there was a specific serious threat that needed to be addressed, but Covid-1984 is basically a worse than average flu season which has been repeatedly used as a tool for tyrants. This is just another one of those totalitarian proposals, albeit way more prone to abuse

With the new mayor is he going to bring back tier 1 if the rates keep climbing or will he be a little more flexible since the vaccine is being distributed?

I’ve been working OT and not up to speed with the news

Would it be appropriate to give a honorary title to our dear leader fauci other than doctor?
I would be willing to call him Count Fauci if he is comfortable with that. I don't know if he fancies himself royalty but it seems fitting.

Anyone who still asserts that the Safety Cult is about "public health" or "safety" is a reprehensible lying tyrant or stupid beyond belief... maybe both.

It appears (from what a cousin reported) that at least in one part of CA, that hospitals are "prioritizing" ventilators.  Where a person at a certain age who normally would've received a ventilator, was deemed by the medical professionals to "not meet criteria" for the vent.

No salty feelings.  In this case, the person was in hospice and had ended treatment of condition, so somewhat of a consolidation of "et nature taking it's course".  Though her med directive was for "full code", which was to extend her life.

Anyways, just sharing recent personal experience.  Not meant to be a commentary either way.
