No shit?! But what do four physicians from Stanford know?

article: https://www.newsweek.com/covid-lockdowns-have-no-clear-benefit-vs-other-voluntary-measures-international-study-shows-1561656

study: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/eci.13484

COVID Lockdowns Have No Clear Benefit vs Other Voluntary Measures, International Study Shows

A new study evaluating COVID-19 responses around the world found that mandatory lockdown orders early in the pandemic did not provide significantly more benefits to slowing the spread of the disease than other voluntary measures, such as social distancing or travel reduction.

The peer reviewed study, which was conducted by a group of Stanford researchers and published in the Wiley Online Library on January 5, analyzed coronavirus case growth in 10 countries in early 2020.

The study compared cases in England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the U.S. – all countries that implemented mandatory lockdown orders and business closures – to South Korea and Sweden, which implemented less severe, voluntary responses. It aimed to analyze the effect that less restrictive or more restrictive measures had on changing individual behavior and curbing the transmission of the virus.

The researchers used a mathematical model that subtracted "the sum of non-pharmaceutical intervention (NPI) effects and epidemic dynamics in countries that did not enact more restrictive non-pharmaceutical interventions (mrNPIs) from the sum of NPI effects and epidemic dynamics in countries that did."

Using that model, the researchers determined that there is "no clear, significant beneficial effect of [more restrictive measures] on case growth in any country."

"Implementing any NPIs was associated with significant reductions in case growth in 9 out of 10 study countries, including South Korea and Sweden that implemented only lrNPIs [less restrictive NPIs] (Spain had a non‐significant effect). After subtracting the epidemic and lrNPI effects, we find no clear, significant beneficial effect of mrNPIs on case growth in any country," the study said.

Its too late.
The People have been under the narrative of lockdowns for almost a year. All we do is blame each other for spread and that's what our leaders goal is.
Hey how's the vaccine rollout doing Gov Ige?

How many peer-reviewed medical journal articles have to be published before the Safety Cult politicians "follow the science" and cancel all the useless tyrannical bullshit? My prediction: no matter how many scientific articles prove their "restrictions" are useless (or very near useless) they will continue to relish seeing the public bend over, maybe forever.

STUDY: COVID Lockdown Harms Are 10 Times Greater Than Benefits

Another academic study is proving what many have contended all along, that the COVID lockdowns are causing more harm than good

https://nationalfile.com/study-covid-lockdown-harms-are-10-times-greater-than-benefits/

Study: https://www.preprints.org/manuscript/202010.0330/v2

Dr. Ari Joffe, a specialist in pediatric infectious diseases at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Canada, has authored a peer-reviewed paper that substantiates popular claims that lockdowns have consequences.

He is also a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Alberta in Canada.

Joffe has authored a peer-review academic paper titled COVID-19: Rethinking the Lockdown Groupthink that finds the repercussion harms caused by the COVID lockdowns are ten-times greater than any benefit that can be perceived.

“Initial data falsely suggested that the infection fatality rate was up to 2-3 percent, that over 80 percent of the population would be infected, and modelling suggested repeated lockdowns would be necessary,” Joffe said in an interview.

“But emerging data showed that the median infection fatality rate is 0.23%, that the median infection fatality rate in people under 70 years old is 0.05%, and that the high-risk group is older people especially those with severe co-morbidities,” Joffe continued.

Critics mock NY Gov. Cuomo's sudden denunciation of lockdowns,
suggests Trump hacked his Twitter account

Quote
Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo raised eyebrows on Monday by making
a drastic public shift on lockdowns during the coronavirus pandemic.

Previewing this year's State of the State address, Cuomo called for New York's
economy to be reopened regardless of the slow coronavirus vaccine rollout.

"We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high.
We will have nothing left to open.
We must reopen the economy, but we must do it
smartly and safely. #SOTS2021," Cuomo tweeted.

Critics panned Cuomo's sudden denunciation of lockdowns, even as New York businesses
continue to suffer for the effects of various coronavirus restrictions.

"So let me get this straight..when Republicans have been saying this that means they are
science deniers trying to kill people, but when @NYGovCuomo finally says this today then
he is a genius who should write another book about his incredible leadership? Did I get that
right?" asekd Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y.

"The Criminal Justice Research Institute followed 108 of those released in April and found about 58.3% of them WERE CAUGHT reoffend(ing). About 17% of those charges were felonies and 3% were violent crimes. IT MAY BE SAFELY ASSUMED THAT VIRTUALLY ALL THE OTHERS REOFFENDED BUT WERE NOT CAUGHT (YET)."

Did any of the releases include regular parole check-ins?  You know, like we usually require people released from prison to "participate" in?

Statistics, damn statistics and lies.
At least that’s what a lot of members here preach.

Of the 58% charged with new crimes:
3% of the 58% were charged with violent crimes. ( what is that 1.5% of total released )
17% charged with unspecified felonies ( 8.5% of total ?)

65% with misdemeanors or petty misdemeanors.
10 % ( 5% of total released ? ) with drug or property crimes.
19% with public disorder offenses.
21 % with traffic violations.
37% with pandemic emergency order violations. ( which many here oppose anyway.)

Recidivism doesn’t seem much, if any higher than full term (meaning cut short as normal) sentenced criminals.

I could be wrong.

The point is... absurd scientifically-baseless policies enacted by ignoramus lying Safety Cult politicians have resulted in massive amounts of human suffering, costs far greater than the benefits of the scientifically-baseless "mitigation" restrictions (see the two studies above released in the past week). "A few" felonies and violent crimes may be insignificant to the head of the organization publishing the report, but had she been the victim of one of those crimes she'd likely be less sanguine... though if she's a bleeding heart liberal (highly likely), she'd probably announce that she deserved what she got due to her position of privilege. smh.

You miss the point. Had they remained incarcerated the number of crimes they would have committed would have been zero. Instead they committed X number of crimes. Whatever those crimes were, they were crimes that they would not have committed at all had they remained incarcerated. When they got out of jail after the end of their full sentence, their lives of crime would have continued, but the number of total crimes will now be "all the future" plus X. No matter how small X is, any number larger than zero is a detriment to law abiding citizens who suffer at the hands of the recidivists. Letting criminals out early due to THE VIRUS!!! so they have more days in society to perpetrate crimes against the innocent is utterly preposterous and completely irrational.

While I agree they should have been kept in jail, you are not entirely accurate.  The people who re-offended are back in jail and unable to commit any more crimes.  If they had been kept in jail and released recently, they would most likely committed crimes and it still would be no different than if they got released earlier.  The end result is are back in jail, where they no can't commit any more crimes for the remainder of their new (probably longer) sentence.   Crimes would occur at seemingly the same rates either way it just depends do you want it to happen now or later.  There is no magical time period where no crimes would happen.  They twere minor offenders they would get out of jail soon.
