Very lengthy, heavily referenced article re masks, with brief mention of the "distancing" (lack of) evidence (all baseless unscientific speculation).

There is evidence at least 20 years old (and six months old) from high quality randomized controlled trials (in the real world) that masks do not decrease the rate of transmission of viruses. It's plain and simple. The question then becomes, why is the government bureaucracy lying and being bolstered by the mainstream media? Since they know that masks and mask mandates are useless, what is the goal of mandating masks and promoting lies about them and the necessity for every citizen to wear one at all times?

https://www.aier.org/article/masking-a-careful-review-of-the-evidence/

Masking: A Careful Review of the Evidence

The question on whether to wear a face mask or not during the Covid-19 pandemic remains emotional and contentious. Why? This question about the utility of face coverings (which has taken on a talisman-like life) is now overwrought with steep politicization regardless of political affiliation (e.g. republican or liberal/democrat).

Importantly, the evidence just is and was not there to support mask use for asymptomatic people to stop viral spread during a pandemic. While the evidence may seem conflicted, the evidence (including the peer-reviewed evidence) actually does not support its use and leans heavily toward masks having no significant impact in stopping spread of the Covid virus.

In fact, it is not unreasonable at this time to conclude that surgical and cloth masks, used as they currently are, have absolutely no impact on controlling the transmission of Covid-19 virus, and current evidence implies that face masks can be actually harmful. All this to say and as so comprehensively documented by Dr. Roger W. Koops in a recent American Institute of Economic Research (AIER) publication, there is no clear scientific evidence that masks (surgical or cloth) work to mitigate risk to the wearer or to those coming into contact with the wearer, as they are currently worn in everyday life and specifically as we refer to Covid-19.

We present the evidence in full below. We also state that should adequate evidence emerge that supports the effectiveness of surgical and cloth masks in this Covid pandemic (or any similar type masks), then we will change our position and conclude otherwise. Our focus is on face masks for  Covid but we will touch gently on the issue of school closures and lockdowns, as these three issues remain the key public health policy catastrophes we have faced as global societies.

...

And we reiterate that our conclusions are not based on the absence of evidence for ineffectiveness alone, but actual evidence of ineffectiveness.

...

Our view is that masks as they are worn now, and the masks that are in use, offer zero protection. They can be viewed as ineffective while others consider them as being better than nothing but without evidence to support that view. Masks are not sealed properly to the face and do not effectively stop virion penetration. We state emphatically that public health policy, or any policy for that matter, must be undergirded by sound data and evidence. As we have said, the reality is that widespread use of masks is not supported by science and in fact just the opposite. This mask hysteria is driving unnecessary fear in the population and must end. Those who deliver statements relentlessly on the use of masks are doing so without the luxury of any credible evidence to support those views. They speak on assumption or speculation and this is not science! However, it is important to understand that as we await definitive research, given the situation and the desire to prevent spread to higher-risk persons (e.g. elderly), when consistent social distancing is not possible (our previous concerns about distancing notwithstanding), and out of an abundance of caution, face coverings among symptomatic individuals might reduce the spread of droplets with SARS-CoV-2 infection to others.

...

Danish reporting of a higher-quality mask study on Covid and masks that was actually rejected or sidelined by top journals including Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, and the American Association’s JAMA is alarming if true and suggests a pattern of politicization of research and of the medical community, journal editors and the peer-reviewers.  We look forward to its future publication.

Conclusion
In closing, perhaps Yinon Weiss, who is a U.S. military veteran, and who holds a degree in bioengineering from U.C. Berkeley, captures our current face mask calamity by reminding us how masks constrain our return to a more normal life. As outlandish as this might seem could this be the aim of those using the pandemic for the purpose of advancing various political ideologies? Masking drives fear in the population and a perennial sense of ‘illness’ that is crippling. As stated eloquently by Weiss, “Our universal use of unscientific face coverings is therefore closer to medieval superstition than it is to science, but many powerful institutions have too much political capital invested in the mask narrative at this point, so the dogma is perpetuated.”

Our paper sought to examine the complete and most updated mask-related scientific evidence, along with anecdotal data and reports. Our current belief remains that asymptomatic individuals do not drive the pandemic and that the time-tested method of Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis of washing hands remains the best-established mechanism of limiting most microbial infections. People with symptomatic disease should not go into work! Unfortunately, since the economic downturn around 2008, the incidence of ‘presenteeism’ has increased due to the fear of losing one’s job if one does not show up to work, even if ill. This behaviour has to be taken very seriously and must be stopped.

We also agree with the words of Klompas in the NEJM publication: “What is clear, however, is that universal masking alone is not a panacea. A mask will not protect providers caring for a patient with active Covid-19 if it’s not accompanied by meticulous hand hygiene, eye protection, gloves, and a gown. A mask alone will not prevent health care workers with early Covid-19 from contaminating their hands and spreading the virus to patients and colleagues. Focusing on universal masking alone may, paradoxically, lead to more transmission of Covid-19 if it diverts attention from implementing more fundamental infection-control measures.”

In sum, when we look at the science, there is emerging and troubling evidence of harms from mask use in the absence of any benefits. This is also related to things as mundane as simple incorrect use of masking, as well as the development of complacency that emerges due to mask use and thus the relaxation of other mitigation steps, as well as mask contamination.

We also cannot discount the possible harms on our immune systems and general health from such constant and prolonged use of masks, given we have never done this before. We are in uncharted territory and especially so with the possible implications for our children. Their immune systems are still being developed and we are forcing lockdowns, school closures, and masking on a developing child and we have no prior experience on the subsequent outcomes pertaining to children’s development, health, and well-being.

Most discomforting is that those government bureaucrats in charge and particularly the ‘medical experts’ continue to fail to admit they were exceptionally incorrect with regard to most of what they have stated in terms of pandemic policies and response related to the Covid pandemic. They have harmed the very societies they are supposed to help protect. They have failed to look at the evidence or follow it, and continue to operate in an arbitrary nonscientific, nonevidence informed manner. They ‘attack,’ with the assistance of the mass media, those of us who question their policies and actions despite the disastrous outcomes of those public health policies. Indeed, we are often blamed for the failures (called ‘deniers’ or ‘heretics’) and crushing harms of all of their policies when it has actually been their specious, illogical, and unsound actions and recommendations that deserve public outcry.

Why do doctors wear PPE?  If it doesn't help?  How do you explain medical staff with PPE not getting covid?

Come on even you has memory still.  They didn't have enough PPE in the beginning.  The medical staff needed it.   That's why they discouraged public use....

BULLSHIT!

They could have told us to use ANY CLOTH MASK/BANDANA we can find.  If the "experts" were operating under YOUR "better safe than sorry" frame of mind, then they would have simply given the "cloth masks for everyone, and PPE for the people in hospitals, police, emergency agencies, etc." line.  They did not.

Your "Better safe than sorry" BS you think justifies everything we were told to do falls flat on its face.

He can only comprehend words that validate his existing beliefs and feelings.

If my memory serves, doctors have been wearing PPE in operating rooms, ERs, examination rooms, in areas where contagions are present -- pretty much wherever they work.  Mostly its to prevent infecting patients with anything the doctor might be carrying.  They were already doing surgical scrubbing of their hands up to the elbow.  Has NOTHING to do with COVID.  When they see a sick patient, then see another sick patient -- or a healthy one for just an exam, they don't want to transfer anything from patient 1 to patient 2.  It's pure science.

Asking why doctors wear PPE is about as intelligent as asking why school cafeteria workers wear disposable gloves.

There are studies shown that surface transmission is low.  The mask and by proxy the eye shield are the most important prevention measures.

More facts and reality for the SAFETY CULT to flail about trying to lamely justify total garbage bullshit propaganda they've swallowed whole since day 1. It'd be very amusing were it not for the gross amount of permanent damage done to so many millions of people. From Tom Woods today.

Today let's check in on Iowa -- remember Iowa, "the state that doesn't care if you live or die," according to the Washington Post?

Iowa dropped its restrictions five weeks ago (so the initial deaths in that part of the graph are lagging from before the restrictions were dropped). Notice that the trend not only isn't moving into the stratosphere, but is actually downward:

Oh, and "cases" are at their lowest level since August 2020.

While we're at it, here's Tennessee:

Scott Morefield wonders, "Would any of the so-called 'experts' care to explain how on earth Tennessee got to summer-level COVID-19 cases without a statewide mask mandate and with masked vs. unmasked counties at the same infection level?"

And finally, a Fauci update.

The Boston Globe just ran this headline: "Fauci says COVID-19 restrictions could be lifted before US reaches herd immunity."

Martin Kulldorff of Harvard Medical School responded:

"The futility of past/present lockdowns and their enormous collateral public health damage are obvious to more and more people. Politicians understand public opinion and are gradually shifting, and Anthony Fauci is superb at reading the political winds."

When you're pulling the so-called "science" out of your you-know-where, it's easy to shift on a dime.

Is The Pandemic Over?
By Thomas T. Siler, M.D.

After a year now of dealing with the SARS-COV-2 virus, we have learned a great deal about the pandemic. The elusive goal has been to acquire herd immunity and have life go back to normal. However, our mainstream media and some governmental health authorities have ignored parts of the scientific picture that could help us understand herd immunity. They have placed excessive importance on vaccination as the only way to herd immunity. This is not entirely true. There is scientific data showing that we may be closer to herd immunity and the end of the pandemic than the media and government let on.

At the start of the pandemic, we were told that the SARS-COV-2 was a “novel” virus, meaning a brand-new virus that has not been seen before. If this were true, then it would be much harder to treat or make a workable vaccine.

Fortunately, this was not true. SARS-COV-2 is in the family of coronaviruses and shares common characteristics with other members of the same family. Four coronaviruses commonly circulate in our population and cause symptoms of the common cold. Did persons have some cross-immunity to the “new” SARS-COV-2 virus from previous infections with other viruses in the Coronavirus family? The answer was yes.

T cells (a type of white blood cell) and antibodies can both be measured to study immunity. Studies of T cell function in 2020 showed that patients who had not been exposed to SARS-COV-2 in several countries had evidence of cross-reactivity from known coronaviruses and SARS-COV-2. The range of cross-reactivity ranged from 18% in Sweden to 51% in Singapore.

Interestingly, the countries with a higher level of T cell cross-reactivity to SARS-COV-2 had a lower death rate during the pandemic. A study of blood bank samples from 2015 to 2018 in the U.S. showed 50% of the samples had cross-reactive T cells to SARS-COV-2 from prior coronavirus infections.

....

Dr. Mike Yeadon, a former Pfizer scientist with 30 years of experience in immunology, says the pandemic effectively ended, even before we began to vaccinate people. Dr. Marty Makary wrote in a recent article in the WSJ that he feels herd immunity could come by April and also be in effect before we have vaccinated “everyone.” Both these scientists came to this conclusion by saying that more people have already been infected (up to 150 million for the U.S.) already and there was pre-existing immunity at some level for a portion of the population.

Mullis, not mincing words about a lifelong government bureaucrat lying moron named Fauci.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/03/doesnt-know-anything-say-face-nobel-prize-winning-inventor-pcr-test-unloads-dr-fauci-earlier-video/

“He Doesn’t Know Anything – And I’d Say it to His Face” – Nobel Prize Winning Inventor of PCR Test UNLOADS on Dr. Fauci in Earlier Video

Kary Mullis, who won a 1993 Nobel Prize for inventing the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing procedure that is currently used to diagnose Coronavirus cases [Mullis made abundantly clear that the PCR test could NOT be used to diagnose any illness... live culture must be done to confirm that] unloaded on Dr. Anthony Fauci in a video that went viral over the weekend.

In the resurfaced video Kary Mullis accused Fauci of “not knowing anything really about anything” but going on TV anyway and lying to the American public.

Video link:

https://twitter.com/i/status/1369720747313098753

Some things never change.

The interview was originally recorded back during the AIDS crisis in 1993 when Dr. Fauci was spouting off to the cameras.

Kary Mullis said this in his previous video interview, via The National File:

Kary Mullis: “Guys like Fauci get up there and start talking, you know, he doesn’t know anything really about anything and I’d say that to his face. Nothing. The man thinks you can take a blood sample and stick it in an electron microscope and if it’s got a virus in there you’ll know it. He doesn’t understand electron microscopy and he doesn’t understand medicine and he should not be in a position like he’s in. Most of those guys up there on the top are just total administrative people and they don’t know anything about what’s going on in the body. You know, those guys have got an agenda, which is not what we would like them to have being that we pay for them to take care of our health in some way. They’ve got a personal kind of agenda. They make up their own rules as they go. They change them when they want to. And they smugly, like Tony Fauci does not mind going on television in front of the people who pay his salary and lie directly into the camera.”

Mullis went on to say Fauci refuses to debate experts because he doesn’t know anything.

Dr. Fauci’s AIDS work was also highly flawed and was blamed for tens of thousands of deaths in the 1980s.

"Why does my generation have to be full of morons...  "

Unfortunately there are morons in every generation. It gives me hope that there are many in the upcoming generation that thinks logically!

Yeah if only they knew everything in the beginning.... wait they didn't.  They didn't even know how it was spread, how fast it spread.  When they realized they soon told everyone to mask up. But save the n95 for medical staff.   When they learned more they started to do other counter measures...

My God, are you that dense, or just trying to rationalize your bullshit?

If they KNOW they don't KNOW EVERYTHING, and they want to err on the side of BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, they did it exactly OPPOSITE of how they should have decided.  Masks for everyone until we know.

Chinese nationals were buying up supplies of masks all across the US and shipping them to China.  I guess THEY know how to take precautions in the face of an unknown virus, huh?  Or, is it your belief China knew more than us -- and we were too stupid to follow their lead?
