Back to work slackers.

BREAKING: In order to address workforce shortages throughout South Carolina, Governor Henry McMaster orders termination of state’s participation in all federal, pandemic-related unemployment benefit programs -

JUST IN - U.S. Economy adds only 266,000 jobs in April, far below expectations of nearly 1 million that economists expected.

Job reports under Biden are out and they are in the toilet, his answer today is to spend MORE money. People who run businesses dont see it that way ...

This seems as if it's likely real... but it could be, due to the unhinged ranter having such an extremely exaggerated "gay voice inflection", from a homophobe trying to make gays look bad. Nah. It's real.

Luckily, his grandparents aren't around to be embarrassed by this whiney child.

Most states that enacted mandatory wear of masks and face coverings also included exemptions based on age, and whether or not a person suffers from medical or other health conditions, disabilities or mental health conditions that make it difficult to tolerate wearing a mask.

To ignore the fact that the woman had a stated medical condition that likely exempted her, when she was under no obligation to divulge any of that to the idiot recording her, shows how brainwashed the mask Nazis have become.

If his grandparents are dead because because people didn't wear masks, I have to wonder -- did they die in a NY nursing home?  Or, did they die before Fauci flipped on his original opinion that masks did nothing to stop the spread?  So many questions.

Don't worry about those missing jobs. Biden is going to pay everyone to be nannys to illegal children.

GREENSBORO, North Carolina — Biden officials are eyeing the city for the next overflow shelter for up to 800 migrant children who have come across the southern border.

Mayor Nancy Vaughan claimed it could lead to “as many as 800 jobs” for residents.

You should join the nazi FB group about covid.  Many people asked about said exception, only to be replied mostly with "I have X, Y, Z and still wear my mask".  Or "I use an oxygen tank and still wear my mask".  There is no medical exception in their eyes.  Then they post pics of children and bash the parents for not masking them up.  If they can walk, they can wear mask is the thought.

Then add in the mods of said nazi group act like dictators. If you post questioning their logic or disagree with them, they kick you.  They even posted about not screen shoting post.

But 1 point I do agree with them on is that vaxx cards are useless because a vaxxed person can still get and transmit the virus.  They are super against passports.

Now I understand how the Nazi's got the German citizens to go along with the program.

'Different economies'

A )

 The Straw Man Fallacy
This fallacy occurs when your opponent over-simplifies or misrepresents your argument (i.e., setting up a "straw man") to make it easier to attack or refute. Instead of fully addressing your actual argument, speakers relying on this fallacy present a superficially similar -- but ultimately not equal -- version of your real stance, helping them create the illusion of easily defeating you.

B)

The Correlation/Causation Fallacy
If two things appear to be correlated, this doesn't necessarily indicate that one of those things irrefutably caused the other thing. This might seem like an obvious fallacy to spot, but it can be challenging to catch in practice -- particularly when you really want to find a correlation between two points of data to prove your point.

Please explain their major differences.

Hawaii economy is driven by tourism.  Especially foreign.  With other foreign countries effectively banning travel or making it very unappealing this causes Hawaii to not have a thriving economy.  Causing lack of jobs and employment.  No matter how republican hawaii becomes it can't change this fact.

Other states have other industries like manufacturing, finance, and many other unique sectors that don't suffer the same issues with covid.  Some republican states are farming states, a job which has much less effect from covid.

Capitalists vs. Socialists?   :geekdanc:

NY and CA have "vastly different economies," too, and yet their rates of unemployment are almost the exact same.

Having "vastly different economies" doesn't explain the disparity.

8 states on the list, how about educating us on the other 7 that we aren't all intimately familiar with and all know is an extreme outlier.

Funny how gambling came up this session and all the morons on FB saying they don't want it here.  Not like HI needs a 2nd source of income.  Same with pakalolo.  Then install wind fans and people grumble how it makes the aina look cluttered.

The plantation mentality is strong in HI.  Majority of the people here want to keep things the way they are, but yet complain that things never change.

If you're in a union and/or work for the state gov't, why would you ever want change?  Look at the overtime abuse issue at the police department that's been raised over and over yet is still going on/getting worse.  When Mayor Harris tried to stop the overtime abuse, the police union went after him with all they could muster.  "Cops buy homes expecting to get overtime.  To not pay it would be a hardship on these 'public servants'!"  How does that in any way justify TO THE TAX PAYERS why we should be funding a system that expects and accepts abuse?

One abuse that I don't think stopped was being allowed to call in sick for your own shift, then turn around and fill in for someone the next shift.  Working a shift you weren't scheduled to work paid you overtime, even though you didn't work your own shift.  Of course, another Cop got overtime for taking your shift, too.

Now we, the Honolulu tax payers, are getting stuck with the COVID OT bill that the state tried to use COVID relief package funds to afford.  This is just the latest "scandal" involving police OT practices out of the many I've seen reported in the past.  It's an ongoing problem that the department doesn't view as a problem -- because they all make bank abusing a system, and the union protects them from accountability.

Quote
The Honolulu Police Department had planned to use federal CARES Act funds for overtime expenses
during the pandemic, but now that the department has identified overtime abuse, city taxpayers are left
holding the bag.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell said on Wednesday that the CARES money will be “supplanted” with city funds.

“We will not allow CARES money to be used,” he said. “We’ll make sure the money is returned to the
city and used for things like our small business grant program or Fish to Dish, or these other programs.”

The mayor’s comments follow the HPD’s confirmation that numerous police officers logged more lucrative
overtime hours than they were allowed, as reported by Civil Beat’s news partner Hawaii News Now.

Within a five-week period, officers should not have exceeded 100 hours each. Fifty-nine officers logged
130 hours or more, 10 officers logged 200 overtime hours or more, and two officers logged 300 hours or
more, according to a department memo.

Chief Susan Ballard disbanded the city’s COVID-19 enforcement team as a result.

The mayor said Thursday it’s not yet clear exactly how much money was inappropriately spent on overtime.

When police commissioners asked Ballard about the situation at a meeting on Wednesday, the chief offered
only vague answers.

“It’s going to be several, probably more than several, months before there is any type of information that can
be resolved,” Ballard said.
...
“Why does this take several months?” Parry asked.

“Because there is a large number of people who participated in this program,” Ballard responded.

“And we have to pull overtime cards, we have to pull work records, we have to do interviews of all these people
to make sure the officers have a very thorough and fair investigation that is done, so that if any discipline is
meted out, that we give them the due process that is required by the collective bargaining agreement.”

BTW, when Ballard said it's the supervisors who are responsible for managing OT, I guess she's never heard of the situation where the people approving OT get kickbacks from the workers getting paid OT.

p.s.  This OT issue is part of the COVID Cult discussion, since it's tied to the CARES money the feds promised the state if they implemented the restrictions on masks, etc.

What does Baltimore know? Hah. You don't believe the CCP when they tell us that the virus is from a bat cave and traveled 1,000 miles through fairly primitive terrain to infect the first person at a wet market in Wuhan, a mile from the PLA bioweapons lab where Fauci had shunted U.S. taxpayer money to do the gain of function research? It's been obvious from day one... Professor Li Min Yang made that clear at the start right after she defected. Two things the fascist authoritarians are desperate to keep hidden: 1. the origin and genesis of the CCP virus, and 2. the fraudulent practices, made easier by the CCP virus, of the November 3, 2020 election won by a large margin (counting only all legal votes) by Donald Trump. Virus -> Election -> Fascism. Not a shot fired.
