If a criminal is shot you feel sympathy or empathy?  What about a terrorist? If someone is warned not to do something stupid and they still do it, you still give sympathy?  If the zoo keeper says not to pet the tiger, and some idiot does it and gets eaten, there's no empathy there.  I empathize with innocents or people who don't deserve it.   Not with criminals or idiots.

There is no satisfaction in the taking of any life - whether or not that person was doing good or bad to you. One can ridicule faith all you want but that is what I learned as a Christian.
On the other hand, a sociopath has no remorse over the killing of another person.
What differentiates us as humans is the capacity to have compassion and the ability to help others in need. Its tough and I don't always have the strength and/or courage to do this consistently but that is my goal.
