Biden's Transition Team contacted the ATF to discuss Gun Control

From Lone Star Gunrights:

Biden's Transition Team contacted the ATF to discuss Gun Control

The elections are far from over and Biden’s victory is nothing more than a unilateral declaration. This is true except for the ATF which is secretly transitioning itself to be in a position to restrict gun ownership under the Biden administration.

ATF’s Acting Director Regina Lombardo disclosed during a conference call on November 10, 2020, that Biden’s transition team reached out to discuss ATF’s top priorities. An insider disclosed that 80% lower receivers and pistol braces would be her priority.

So far everything in this thread is already banned by Hawaii.   Everything in this thread can also be easily reversed by the next president without congress or any laws.

True, but also not the point.

My point is without congress he can't do meaningful long lasting gun control.

Why would you believe that Mittens, Murkowski, Collins and a number of other Senate RINOs would not "reach across the aisle" to achieve a "bipartisan" set of "common sense gun safety laws"?

Wait, since he is not officially president, isn't there some law against this?

It would still be law.  So say the ATF banned rifle mags over 10 rds with no grandfather clause.  That would mean while the rule is upheld, you have to comply or be a felon.  Then when the next president comes along and wants to revise it, you would have to buy all new mags.  So it is meaningful long lasting because 4 years is long.  Hell 1 minute is an eternity too. Heads.

Wait what?  Correct me if I am wrong but ATF can't do that.

I understand its a slippery slope, but there isn't much we can do.   Focus on senate to be a stopgap.  Focus on the future to get a good republican candidate not the train wreck like trump.  Obama didn't do any meaningful gun control that I know of,  trump banned bumpstocks.  There's always something happening.  There's nothing we can do to not have Biden as president. (conspiracy theories aside)   I believe we should focus on the things we can do.  Like winning in Georgia.  Try to teach and bring in more democrats to the 2a cause.   ETC.

This is a fear,  but so far there isn't any signs of this happening.  There are moderate democrats who want to hold their seats too so we might have the opposite happen.

Wait what?  Correct me if I am wrong but ATF can't do that.

Do you understand what the ATF's process is when it comes to defining what's legal to own?

There doesn't have to be a Congressional law to make something illegal.  All that has to happen is for the ATF to issue a guidance letter stating that a specific item falls under an already established category of firearm, ammo, accessory, etc.  Once they say "That thing is classified as a 'bad thing'," the same restrictions for whatever classification apply.

Look up how Obama's ATF tried to make green tip .223/5.56 ammo illegal by classifying it "armor piercing."  The thing that prevented it was the ATF failed to follow correct procedure, which includes providing a period of time for public response and input.  The new ATF rules were published, and then the green tip ban was retracted as soon as the public saw the unexpected change and filed complaints.  Had they managed to put the change out for review and not received feedback that contradicted their evaluation, the change would have remained.  All of this, and not a single step involved Congress or Executive Orders.

But can they apply that to magazines?  I understand how they work,  but just like everything else they don't have unlimited power.
