I've had The Alley's and Rainbow's.  The Alley's is pretty good.  I don't care for Rainbow's.  The gravy is meh to me.

Not loco moco, but I really the hamburger steak from Shiro's.

For best loco moco, I can't think of one I would call "go to".  The one from the old restaurant that was in Leeward Bowl and the restaurant that was on top of the Board of Water Supply building were awesome.  Home/hand made patties were the key.

I can't believe Big City Diner didn't make the list! I like it with their fried rice.

If I'm eating loco moco it's probably because that's all that you've offered me.

This is untraditional, but very good.
The company catered this in so I don't know where it came from.
It is linguine with chicken katsu smothered in alfredo sauce, topped with 2 eggs.

Not a fan of Rainbows but I prefer their fried rice with egg on top over their locomoco
Their quality went downhill over the years. I live in the neighborhood for a while. Not that it was cuisine to begin with either.

Cafe 100 is THE BEST on the BI. However, before they closed I thought the Desert Rose Cafe in Ocean View had the best Loco Moco.

I love eating loco moco.  You guys going laugh but I like how Zippy's makes it.  Only because Zippy's is close by to home and before the pandemic was a regular visit while shopping, etc.  Loco moco at Big City Diner is really good too.

Actually the two components that make a good loco moco for me is gravy and the eggs.  I don't care for thick clumpy gravy and prefer thinner and darker ones.  And the eggs has to be over easy not over hard or over well done.  Gotta be gooey so the eggs go "booooosh" all over the patty and rice when I hit it with the spoon.  Spoon, not fork so I can scoop up all that goooey goodness.

Oh and if the patty is handmade more betta.

I also like Zippys loco moco, but it depends on the location. I liked the one from Waiau Zips and not the Piikoi one. Difference was the consistency of the patty.

And yes, gravy is key for me. I like gravy all over on many local plates. Same with turkey as well at Thanksgiving. Can’t be the packaged mix stuff. Blech

I never had loco moco from Big City Diner. I actually rarely eat there. Fried rice loco moco sounds good though. Will have to give it a try.

As long as the gravy is good I don't really have a favorite loco moco.  Fried rice is like bacon it makes anything better.

I've been liking the variations people are doing.  Pancake and Waffles Aiea does a prime rib moco and Diner's Kalihi's Bradduh moco with corned beef instead of hamburger are both great.

YES!!!

I've tried variations.  Some are good, some are "uh, not trying that again".  Corned beef hash patty moco sounds good.  I also want to try the chorizo hash versions.

Corned beef hash with sunny side up egg over is our family standard, but never tried it with gravy.

I love to make spam musubi moco.
7-11 spam musubi.
Cut off and eat the nori.
Chop up spam musubi in bowl and throw couple sunny side up eggs on top.
Complete meal out of one spam musubi.

Never tried with gravy though.
Now I’m wondering......
