Tried a few places this week being discussed here.  Ordered eggs over easy.
Liliha Bakery - original location.
Ordered take out at the counter.  Good service, ready in about 10 minutes.  Gravy pretty good - it had that slight char that I like, but it had a distinct 'propane taste'.  Eggs done perfectly.

Big City Diner - Aiea
Ordered take out by phone.  Showed up on time, had to wait 10 minutes just to talk to someone and then another 5 minutes to get my order.  Gravy so-so, patty pretty good, eggs slightly over done.  Generous amount of gravy and onions.

Bottom line - I would not order these again.

I asked my co-worker about this and he swears by Anna Millers.

I don't eat these much because runny eggs causes me to have runny.....

I like Anna millers loco moco with a few mods.

Order: chili locomoco with fried rice. Over easy eggs. Like their brown gravy it's the dark kine not the light kind you get at l&l's.

Flamingo's pretty good too

The only thing I don't like about Loco Moco when I eat out is they only put 2 eggs.  If possible I ask for 3 eggs or I order a side order.

Gotta have that gooey goodness all the way to the last bite of goo-wavey, hamburga, and wice.

Not a fan of Rainbows but I prefer their fried rice with egg on top over their locomoco
Their quality went downhill over the years. I live in the neighborhood for a while. Not that it was cuisine to begin with either.

I get their fried rice with egg and BBQ Pork on the side.

Loco Moko from Cafe 100 in Hilo topped with catsup.  Mmmmmm. Have not had that since Mid Pacific Air closed down (used to fly in to work on equipment at Hilo airport).

Not sure I have a favorite loco moco place but let's talk variations. I think the best type is shredded kalua pig loco moco. Hamburger is good and all but I still remember the kalua pig one I got from cafe 100. It's easier to eat since you don't have to cut up the burger.

That's a first for me -- had to look it up.

Typically, I've found it's the "other way around" when folks use 25 cent words when a nickel would have sufficed. . .

True.  Somebody has a "Word-a-day" calendar, and that just happened to be Unctuously's day!

To be fair, the author of the unctuous review did not go to Punahou.
He went McKinley.

Had the loco moco at Highway Inn - good gravy and char on the burger.  I didn't like the mac salad.  They were busy and the food took a while (20 minutes).  I'd order it again, but with 'all rice'.
