I've been using CCI mini mag $38/500.  Looking for something cheaper and where I can get it.

Thanks

CCI Blazer is pretty cheap. CCI Standard Velocity, to me, is good for matches. There's also Federal Auto Target (or something like that--got it from Young Guns) that's somehow optimized for semiautos. Winchester 555 has a jacketed bullet and it's cheap enough.

Blazers has been working pretty good for me. Not as accurate as CCI Standard but good enough. KGS has them for $25 500rd bulk pack or $225 for 5,000rds.

Found some new ammo (for me) at Young Guns. It is called Federal Auto Match. It is match grade ammo designed for semi-autos that is bulk packed. I think it is 325 rounds for $18.95. It shoots VERY well from my target rifle. I will be using it at my next match.

Hmmm... 1200 fps.  I don't think I've ever seen anyone label supersonic .22 ammo "match" before!

I have to agree with you Tom. But I also can't argue with the results out of the end of the barrel of my target .22.  :wtf:

My Ruger runs good with the 555-333 packs from sports authority. Pretty cheap and there made a little better now, and recently notice its copper coated now.

I've always suspected that the whole "subsonic only" from match shooters was more elitism than fact-based.  Unless the round transitioned from super to sub before it reached the target, I don't see how the shock wave could really matter.

I was told many years ago (30+) that subsonic (or in those days Standard Velocity) was easier to manufacture consistently than the High Velocity ammo. And for match work consistency is everything. I imagine that what I was told was totally BS because when CCI Mini Mags came out I was amazed that any company could make such high quality HV ammo. So I am not surprised that in order to have match grade ammo work well in accurate semis they need to make it HV.

What really amazes me is that this Federal ammo works so well in my 42 year old Anschutz Rifle. And it is not SV!!!!!!!

For serious smallbore match pistol, check out the bullseye shooters use on the pistol range.

Casual smallbore match shooting is done on the silhouette range and they use whatever fits their budget.

I'm assuming that you have a Ruger MKIII. That pistol should print better than  2" groups at  25 yards with anything quality ammo.

Never had an ammo-related failure using CCI Mini Mags.  CCI is the brand I go to when I feel spendy..  :geekdanc:

I absolutely love CCI mini mags.

They're my go to 22lr ammo too.

OGC case price is tops right now.

When Security Equipment has it on sale, they're lowest. (not on sale right now)
