I am trying to buy new sights. Which one is better sights, trijicon hd xrs, ameriglo idot pro, ameriglo spartan? I also heard that rival arms makes good sights. Is U notch more accuarte than square notch?

Personal preference. Intended use/purpose are key for what one looks for IMO.

For me, fiber optic front and blacked out rear are my personal preference. I have a thread on when I went to fiber optic front sight from tritium front.

You’ll get lots of opinions on preferences. To me, up to you.

Also look into fitting requirements for sights. Some require more work than others. Not a big deal, but you may need different equipment.

Another consideration is eye sight. Mine isn’t what it used to be. Fiber optic fronts help me pick them up better.

I first bought the AmeriGlo tritium night sights.  Nice for dark settings, but I was never happy with their daytime visibility.

Now I use TRUGLO TFX PRO, combination tritium and fiberoptic sights.  The FO helps in daytime, and of course tritium is still good for night.

The TRUGLO TFX PRO are not cheap, but you're getting the best of both types in one set.  I'd recommend at least trying a set from Amazon.  You can always return them within their standard refund period.

I replaced the standard Glock sights with TruGlo FO sights front and rear. I ran this setup for several years. With my eyes getting older I had a hard time seeing the front sight even under semi bright conditions. Then outdoors they get washed out for me. I replaced them with the Trijicon Bright and Tough Tritium Sights and now I can see the front sight again. And it doesn’t get washed out when outside.

I like them so much on my Glock that I also put them on my EDC Sig P228.

the U is supposed to be easier to pick up the front sight rather than more accurate...

Ohh i like trijicon HD sights. I like the fat circle. Have it on 2 glocks. I feel im more accurate with U notches. And pick up easier on it as well.

Im being cheap now tho and trying xs engineering minimalists on a g48. Looks somewhat similar to spartans. Which i also have.

Overall i do like black out rears [sharpied my HD rear sights] and a big circle with a "bright" outer ring.

I also just got a gen 5 g19. Im gonna try out overwatch have blue sights. Cause im being cheap.

The XS Big Dot sights are really good for picking up the front sight post. You can get them in the traditional 3-dot, Heine "straight-8" or as a "dotted I". I'm becoming accustomed to the F8 sights as they are easier to pick up in low light and don't have to concentrate on 3 dots. But in the end, what everyone else is saying, it's personal preference. Ask people at the range what they use and if they have different ask if you can shoot it a couple times ( and give them a cool drink for their trouble)

3 dot

F8 sights

Dotted I

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

Before switching to red dots, I had the i-dot on my Glock and liked it better than my trijicon hd sights that I had on a previous Glock I owned.

With iron sights on handguns, my personal preference would be straight eight sights.

Are you going to run a light?  I've noticed with my WML on, I cannot see the tridium in my Trijicon sight.  I got the sight way before I bought a WML.  So spent more money on night sights when I don't have to because they don't work.

This is one of the reasons I like the TRUGLO TFX PRO.  Tritium for low light, and fiber optic for brighter light.

I'm gonna have to look into that later.  At least with the WML on, I can see the front post, it's just all black.  Cannot see the orange.

Don't blind yourself with the light before looking at the sights. . .

 ;D

Sorry, back on topic. . .

In the night shooting practice that I've had, I don't really pick up the tritium.  I can see it when it's dark in my bedroom, but not really much beyond that.  Going on a tangent here, but RDS has been awesome for no light shooting.   ;D
