Recommendation on getting HPD Appointment
« on: November 25, 2020, 10:12:46 AM »
I was just wondering if there is any strategy in getting an appointment at HPD. I've seen guns I wanted to buy come and go because I can't get an appointment. I go and refresh the HPD calendar every now and then but it always says that it's booked out for the next 90 days. If there's nothing to do but keep refreshing, I understand. Just thought maybe I could get some insight from this site.

go every 10 minutes on the dot during their business hours.  and you need to type fast
appts open up 90 days prior, every 10 minutes on the dot.  you have to be quicker on the keyboard than everyone else that is trying.
its like quick draw with your computer keyboard
good luck, young Padawan   :shaka:

I’ve gotten appointments (permit and registration) just using my phone, I usually just pick the option I want and go 2forty on spamming what appointments I need (without refreshing) so for example if I choose permits and it takes me to the appointment option screen since I needed 3 guns or less I usually just spam the two options (regular and extended hrs) over and over most of the time I get the same result (no appointments for the next 90 days) for at least 10 or 15 minutes then I might land one appointment just gotta be fast when inputting your info once you get an appointment time otherwise by the time your done submitting the system will read that you’ve lost the appointment. Once you get that message refresh and start the process over I’m sure after a good 20 min to 1/2 hour you’ll land at least 2 or 3 more appointment times.

When you say "spam" do you mean just clicking the "MORE TIMES" link over and over again? How do you spam regular and extended hours at the same time?

What’s the difference between regular and extended hours?

Regular is during working hours,  extended is after hours.

Extended hours are from 3 pm to 630 pm.  Some of the CARES $$$ is being used to hire temporary workers and pay ot for the officers working the counter.

HPD will tell you that if you get the PTA and pick up your guns but you DON'T have an appt to register them yet you have to keep them safely locked up at home until you can secure a registration appointment.  They have told me that I am not supposed to shoot them until I get them registered.

They also will tell you to keep the PTA  with the firearm until you can get them registered.

So, as long as you can get the PTA you can go ahead and buy what you want.  The LGS  I patronize requires payment in full and they would LIKE you to pick it up within 30 days.  Some shops state that they will charge a storage fee after 30 days, they will likely get NONE of my business.

The best way is to petition our new mayor and have him put HPD Chief Skank in her place and order her to stop this BS immediately.

ok heres how you guarantee get an appointment. regular hours appointments is 90 days out, they only become available, tuesday-saturday, 8am-420pm. extended hours is 7 days out, monday-friday 430pm-620pm.

1. have at least 30 minutes uninterrupted time to do this, during the days and hours listed above, depending on which type of appointment you want.
2. make sure your computer time is synced, use https://www.time.gov/ to verify.
3. open a browser, I use google chrome. go to https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=19367924
4. choose the type of appointment you want permit to acquire, or registration of firearms.
5. choose regular hours 3 firearms, or extended hours 3 firearms. a spinny thing will appear and then it will tell you there are no appointments available.
6. "spam" this by clicking on the same "button" that you just clicked, regular hours 3 firearms or extended hours 3 firearms. If you are choosing the top option which is extended hours 3 firearms, you dont even have to move your mouse, you can just double left click to spam this. spam this until an appointment availability appears. normally appointments appear every 10 minutes(not necessarily every 10 of the hour, but usually). as soon as the appointment appears, click it. make a mental note of the time when it appeared. the next appointment will appear exactly 10 minutes from that time. reference your computers time.
7. fill out the forms accurately, take your time. make sure they are filled out properly. you will not be getting this appointment, you will get the next appointment.
8. click confirm appointment, the website will tell you the appointment is gone. DO NOT CLOSE the browser, leave it open.
9. go back to step 6 and repeat. except this time when you click on the available appointment that appears, the forms will be pre-filled with the information you typed earlier. immediately scroll to the bottom and click confirm appointment. this way you will get the appointment seconds after it has become available. Since you have made a mental note of the exact time when the appointment appears, you can sit around for 9 minutes and 30 seconds before spamming the button.
10. dont make me regret giving out this information. that means dont make more appointments than you need.

Be persistent too. People are always cancelling their appointments and you can pick those up. Gotta be fast though, so the instructions above work very well.

IIRC, the regular hour appointments are 90-days out and the extended hours are 7-days out.

I've had good luck on saturdays.  The appointments available then are for fridays.  Not as much people are trying to make appointments.

Why is there a 3 gun limit permit?

The appointment is for 3 permits only (long gun permit counts as 1 permit). It’s to keep people moving

I still can't get an appointment.. went down today to p/u my permit and no one was in line to register?
This whole entire system needs to be fixed. Now here's my dilemma,  what I move out of state in the next couple months and I still can't get an appointment then what?
