Just wait until you start realizing that they are tracking your movements through your log-ins to the various SM accounts. For me that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
My phone has been acting weird. Had to reboot it several times. Anyone remember Morse code? Or two cups and a very long string will do

I've abandoned Social media.  My system is so tight I can't even get Parler to work.
My cell phone only leaves the house when I leave my property, and it is only used for
emergency phone calls.  Indeed My cell phone doesn't work in my home,
due to location and metal roofing.
I'm on Satellite, so most trackers think I'm somewhere in South East America.
Home depot thinks I'm in Seattle.  I haven't quite figured out that one yet.
I pay for a private email and that trace ends at a server in Seattle
The actual email provider is way, way,
away from Seattle.
I run Ubuntu 18.04 as an O/S which is a Debian Linux
on my various computers. Phone is Android.
I'm a little more a computer Geek than most so I can deal
with Linux and can "Brick" a BIOS with the best of them.
VPN's are good, but for me, too Slow.
TOR is good if you want to wage war.
Brave is better if you want pictures, it also is a VPN
set up.
Bottom line is this;
Y'all have to understand that if you use the "User friendly"
tech tools, you are going to be spied on, period.
To start with you can run "Snoop" on most servers.
Flap may have something to add to that.

Google owns YT.  So almost anything you Google will show up in the YT ads.

FB and Twitter also share those cookies.

Clearing cookies can be one way of getting rid of targeted ads, but you will get ads unless you have ad blockers of something like Pi-Hole.

I accessed YT from my TV and as a guest.  The profile that is on there is my friends one that I log onto when I want to watch sports on YT.  BRB gonna wear tin foil hat while watching TV.

Do you use the same friend's login on your other devices?  Coolies follow you no matter where you go or how you log in.  If you logged into the same account on multiple devices, the cookies are everywhere you logged in from.

I've gone on eBay and Amazon looking for an item, and the ads related to that item started popping up on my browser in many website's ad sections.

I know AdSense is one service that tracks your IP address and places cookies on your browser.  Doesn't matter how you accessed the services.  The history is there and getting shared.

My SM feeds are now filled with a bunch of gun stuff.  Reloading presses, scope levels, etc. Loving it.  Found some pretty good deals.  Well, my CC isn't really loving it as some of these items were slated for purchase a little further down the road, but got some great deals, so pulled the trigger.   :geekdanc:

We can always bang on trees or telephone poles to send signals. Or how about smoke signals, go real old school.

There is some great info in this thread. Maybe it should be a sticky in prep and survival?

Mrs Barrels convinced me to get an iphone a few years ago and now the battery is dying and I do not want to swap it out because I know the Apple Store will update the firmware with all the new Covid trackers. You can still opt out for now, but they will run in the background regardless. Ever hold your phone up to a radio and listen to all the I/O when it is supposedly sleeping? Little rat basterd never stops snitching on me.
If you allow government to break the law for an "emergency" they will create "emergencies" to break the law.

Nope, just used his log on for the TV. "They" know all devices.
