Treating medical conditions (like drug addiction) as a crime makes about as much sense as treating gun crime as a public health issue.

There should be no illegal intoxicants (heroin, meth, etc.) of any kind, correct?

Only penalties for endangering behavior while under the influence?

Government support for the "users" in the form of the drugs themselves and/or apparatus for use (syringes, pipes, etc.)?

And if that array of activities is made fully legal, how could the same government deny physicians the ability to legally help painlessly euthanize anyone psychologically competent who asked for it?

You have a point, since it took a Constitutional Amendment to prohibit alcohol production, distribution, sales and possession.  No such amendment exists for the same prohibition of narcotics, which could contain an exemption for medicinal use when prescribed by a doctor.

Depends on how strict we are being with definitions here. Do you consider coffee drinkers drug addicts? Technically they display some of those behaviors. The real question is if there are relatively harmless addictions that the government has no legitimate business regulating (beyond limiting access to minors).

Its probably some program to help those non violent released prisoners get their life back together.  Didn't read 100% of the law, but that makes the most sense.  I find that to be reasonable tbh.  If you are non violent and got convicted for just pot and your life was ruined, now they make pot legal you should be freed and helped back a bit to get your life back together.

I don't understand why people have to smoke it in the car.  I can understand tobacco cause it's addicting, but not marijuana.

Really? Never seen any death numbers attributed to caffeine. But I guess you would measure that against the amount of lives saved by caffeine too, like people not crashing from being tired.

Pot is illegal federally and depending on the state u got arrested in as well.  So possessing pot  is on them. No one else to blame. It is illegal at the time of arrest and guilty verdict.

There should be no help to get back on your feet. Make bad choices, suffer the consequences.

My position is the Feds should stay out of it except for taxes and importation bans or tariffs as authorized by the US Constitution.

Any action should be done at the state level, and only as necessary for highly addictive drugs, like crystal meth.  If people want to screw themselves over willingly, then I got no problems with it as long as they don't hurt others and they don't use government resources.  Marijuana is the least of our worries and should be treated as such.

At the same time the community should take responsibility.  Shame people using, selling, and manufacturing drugs.  Run prevention programs.  Provide support for rehab.

They do ask you that question for your work.  Cannot even consume in a legal state due to federal law.
