Take a look at the picture in the story.
It's little picnic tables with little trees in the middle.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that where ever you put a picnic table and a tree you're going to have birds.
Of course where are they going to sit?.....on the tree.....then what are they going to do?

Our city and state is one big pooplet.  That's probably why they came up with this cock-a-mamie idea.

Just as stupid as compact parking stalls.

Like how they removed stalls to make room for the bike lanes, then wonder why parking revenue is down.  So they increased the price.  Then people find other places to park or get a dropped off cause parking is expensive.  Then they wonder why revenue is still down.

What could go wrong from removing more stalls again?  IMO, there are 2 paid lots behind all the businesses that rely on these parking stalls.  I'm sure the owners of the lot had no input for this idea.

That's what we loved about Vegas, normal size stalls everywhere.  We drove a huge Infiniti SUV and never had an issue looking for parking.

The one in the picture is in front of a small coffee shop in Kaimuki I believe. If this "parkle"t allows small businesses to still operate then I would say thats a decent idea to help

I used to pick up my daughter from sacred hearts and take her to that park to ride swings.
So why spend money to place a pooplet directly across the street from a real park?

I also forgot to add, it starts with 1 or a few, then the city will say "it's a huge success and people want more".  Then they remove all street parking.  So if you're doing take out from a business there, you will now have to drive to the back of the place and pay for parking by going to the pay station.  Instead of just parking in the front of the restaurant and popping in a quarter or nothing after 7pm.

Back in the 60s and 70s, when parking meters and vending machines were not as good as they are now, a 10 yen coin would buy you as much time as a quarter.  Back then you could get at least 30 of them for a dollar. Compare the two, they are almost identical in size.

That about sums it up.  They increased the metered parking shortly after lots of metered stalls were removed to make room for the bike lane.  The city stated a loss in revenue. Who would have guessed if you remove stalls, you make less.

They might use the park to house homeless.  Gotta make sure they take care of their voters.

You get what you vote for.  I will assume that the people in that area elected to vote for more of the same.  People make that bed, now they got to sleep in it.
