Baltimore Cops

Most people that have read my posts know I'm not a fan of police.
This just another example of why.

I put on a mask only when conducting business at a business.
This entire holiday season, I still get hugs, shake hands, and
get very close to other people.
I also say grace over meals, and could care less what some idiot
Democrat orders me to do.
Happy New Years!  I'll probably set off some illegal fireworks
just to fuck with them. Many of my neighbors have far better fireworks than
I do.  Here on the Big Island I'd hate to be the cop that cites somebody for
fireworks or not wearing a mask. We know where they live.

When it comes to cops, I think you already know that there is a double standard, on this forum.  In cases, when it involves the killing of unarmed suspects, there is near unanimous support, for the cops.  However, in the case you cited, I suspect those same people will not come to the aid, of that officer, this time.

You and I have other differences of opinion; however, like you, when it comes to cops, I do not flip-flop my views of them because of personal agendas.

I support the police most of the time, but I'm not stupid.
Neither are most people on this forum.

Exactly. There are cases of clear abuse by cops, there cases of clear proper use of force, and then there are cases the truth is not so obvious and objectivity is required to see through spin. I think most people here recognize this though we can disagree when something is right on the line.

What we have to do EVERY SINGLE TIME is consider the SOURCE of the information being reported.  I guarantee you the reporters have an agenda -- usually slanted to the Left, if not Far Left.

These reports tend to be written to elicit an emotional reaction from readers so the news agency makes MONEY from user activity (clicks).

So, while the basic info (who, what, where and when) are normally not debatable, the facts surrounding WHY the suspect or Cop took the actions they did are in most cases a matter of opinion and spin.

This story began on 04/19/2020.  The news of the indictment was dated today, 12/31/2020.  Not much has been released on the details of what transpired in the interim.  One reason might be the lockdowns that shutdown the courts and prosecutor offices for months, only then to have to work through the backlog.

Tbe worst thing anyone can do is form an opinion based on a very short video with no context and no idea what occurred just prior.  Just as bad is forming opinions on the basis of news articles written with a bunch of maybes and might haves.  Those are intentionally designed to attract your attention toward an opinion without any actual facts.

For any Police-involved violence, it's always best to wait a few days afterward to see what the real facts are as they become available.  This is one reason "people on this forum" don't jump on the "criminal police officer" bandwagon when the cop haters immediately post about an incident the day it happens -- and then they accuse those of us remaining silent of implying approval.  Such a tactic is used by Liberals on a daily basis.  "If you don't denounce X, then you must like and support X."  "If you don't support X loudly and proudly, then you must hate X."

Ridiculous, and annoying.

Were they convicted in court of law? 🤔

Cops are held to a higher standard:  Guilty until proven innocent.

Or innocent even though they are probably guilty. The law seems to be different for them and us. A good friend of mine who is a lawyer one said there are four rules of law:
One for the rich
One for the poor
One for politicians and government officials
One for law enforcement
