WhatsApp Forcing Users to Give Up Privacy
« on: January 07, 2021, 06:46:59 AM »
I am not going to post a link here. If anyone here is using WhatsApp like I do you should use a better search engine than Google and find out for yourself.

WhatsApp is going to force all users to agree to share all your personal info with FaceBook by February 6 or your account will be deleted. I intend to delete my account before then and I am already using Signal so if anyone wants to find me I will be using Signal, Parlor and MeWe.

Since FB also owns WhatsApp I will be deleting my FB account this year as well. I have already deleted my Twitter accounts and I am no longer using Gmail, Chrome nor Google for anything.

Thanks for the link. This was predicted to occur right after Biden was confirmed. And now it is occurring. I won’t allow myself to have my personal info and convos shared with FB. So I have no other choice than to delete my account.

It’s a messaging app. You can also make voice and video calls using the app as well so phone calls can be made using the Internet so no charges charges any where in the world. I use it to talk to my family in Israel. Best thing about it it is free. That is until FB bought it. Now one way or another it will have a cost.

I have been making it a habit to stay away from Alphabet for the past few years and it can be slightly more inconvenient but you get used to it. Changing the default search engine in your browser settings is easy. The sticky issues arise because they are tied into so many different devices and software. Your phone can literally talk with your refrigerator or smart meter using high frequency sounds just outside the range of human hearing, so if you have ANYTHING from that company it can find a way to get a signal back to the mothership whenever another friendly internet-connected device comes within earshot.

I have stopped using Google, and I am slowly moving away from Gmail. I’ve tried hard to get away from Chrome but finding it hard to find other browsers that work well with some of the websites I use. I am vigorously trying tho so I can finally delete Chrome. I am getting ready to cut the cord with FB and IG. So I’m getting there.

I’m still testing Brave. I might have to go back to FireFox if I can’t get Brave and DDG to work with some websites.

If a site does not work you can click the lion button and turn the shields off. Firefox has been deep state compromised for a while now and as a result of being weighed down by all the trackers has gotten slower and more annoying

Brave is great.  It is based on the Chrome Browser code base.

For the websites that have issues, I reduce the security slider next to the address bar (Brave Shields).  I normally do this if certain sites are trying to run scripts that I know are safe.

If the browser refuses to access a site that has an invalid certificate, there's a "trick" to bypass that.  Make sure your mouse/cursor is focused on the webpage frame and type:

thisisunsafe

and hit the <Enter> key.

Other browsers like IE offer a button to continue to websites it thinks are unsafe.  Brave does not.

There are still 1-2 pages I can't get Brave to work with.  If memory serves, the Free Credit Report and the 3 Credit Report websites had issues with Brave, so I just used Firefox.  The IRS website may have been another.  Both of those examples use the same credit report hooks to verify user identity, so that could be the common fail-point.

Signal is encrypted and recommended by edward snowden.

Elon musk also recently tweeted about recommending  the signal messaging app and because his tweet was vague as usual another company also called signal had their stock go up by over 500% because of the confusion and the elon musk hype train.

As Jaynick said, the Signal Messaging App works about as well as WhatsApp. And it is encrypted and kept safe from prying eyes.
