How do you feel about the violence at the capitol?
« on: January 11, 2021, 01:45:01 PM »
I think the situation at the capitol has been exaggerated a lot. At first I thought to myself it was a bunch of angry Americans sending a message. There was no real threat of harm, like people weren’t really trying to “overthrow the government.” No shots fired no Molotov cocktails. Yes people broke glass and some officers got hurt which is unfortunate, but again it was not a serious takeover of the capitol like it’s being reported.

But then how is that any different from BLM or Antifa? My original thought was that BLM and Antifa had a dumb message, and they were destroying their own communities for a narrative that was false. Do we condemn the capitol violence as just a small subset of idiots that do not represent the larger conservative population? What are your thoughts?

I think we should treat the violence at the capitol, the same as we treat BLM and Antfia riots.  With condemnation.  They are both bad.  Don't argue which is worst, just accept they are both are bad.  True or false narratives, you don't even need to involve ideology.  Destruction of property or harm to others lives is not a good thing.

The media and the Dems in power are spinning this as an insurrection.  One protest that turned PARTIALLY violent is not an insurrection.  Nobody tried to overthrow the government nor force anyone in Congress to resign.

The Dems are drafting a resolution to impeach Trump for "Inciting an Insurrection."

Just trying to prove there was even an attempted insurrection will fail.  That was never the intent.  Then they have to prove Trump incited the alleged insurrection.

Just more TDS crap being used to gain more power.  There is also talk of a resolution to expel GOP members who supported Trump or contested the election results.

If a Congressman can be expelled for demanding an investigation into national election integrity, then we are all screwed as a nation.

Do you feel that way morally?

I can’t help but keep thinking how for months BLM riots went unchecked on these social media platforms yet no one got kicked off or canceled. Yet one trump event gets violent and the hammer drops.

Where is ja rule so I can make sense of all this!?

In the interest of keeping this thread going I’m going to play devils advocate.

Why does “partially violent” matter here? Now I agree with you,  but I can’t help but remember how we gave BLM grief over their action even though they were mostly peaceful. Are we trying to justify the actions at the capitol because we are afraid that it hurt Trumps movement?

I hate to delve into "what-about-isms."  As a law abiding Conservative and a Republican, I (like most, I feel) condemn ALL violence when there remain peaceful means to achieve an objective.

So many times we've seen violence on the Left, and, yes, the Left is never as outraged as they are when it happens on the Right.  This is why they are so quick to affiliate anyone that commits violence with the Right or Far Right as possible, yet go silent when a criminal affiliates with the Left.

The MSM thinks it's "news" that the majority of Republicans condemn the violence last week.  Newsflash:  Republicans condemn violence ALL THE TIME.  It's just that the MSM fails to report that until the violence can be blamed on that "side".

I'd stop with the BLM/ANTIFA "what about" arguments.  Who caused it is not the issue ... well, it should not be.  The issue is the stolen election of which there is a mountain of evidence that nobody wants to look into, including the Supreme Court.

Doing just that, but also taking time to piss on their Post Toasties when I can.

For a mob that thinks they "won", they sure are acting unhinged with hate.

Where is their celebration for vanquishing the hated conservatives?

Far as getting ready, am thinking very hard on grabbing a small house in Arizona as a bolt hole if the Hawaii politicians use Bidet's election steal as a green light to come after firearm owners.

The actions last Wednesday, January 6, 2021, will go down in US history, as the second most important grassroots event, of the people, of the US, trying to reclaim their nation, from the clutches of empire, in the 21st century.

Unfortunately, like the Occupy Wall Street movement ten years ago, the mass media and imperial servants, of the empire, will take control of the narrative as well as demonize and prosecute, as many as they can, in the goal of squashing any attempt of real systemic change, by the people.

that's an interesting and in my opinion most truthful perspective on what happened last week - compared to the senseless real violence that is still going on in Portland and in the summer, Seattle.

I feel confused after what happened at the Capitol.  I feel like the rioters were just so plain stupid.  I wonder if they even knew what the hell they were doing and the ramifications of their stupid actions.

Well, if they didn't know then, they do now.  A lot if not all of them are getting apprehended.

I'm the type of person where if you decide to do something, go all the way with a plan and commitment to carry things through.

Obviously that wasn't the case on Jan. 6th.

And now the democrats and their asshole allies like the MSM are taking advantage of the situation to further destroy Trump and the GOP.

If the protestors really decided to take action they could have occupied the Capitol and prevented Congress from certifying biden's presidential win.  Occupy the Capitol by all means, and that means weapons and holding whoever is in the building hostage.  Then make their demands.

Trump as President will not send the military against his own people.  With no certification there will be no inauguration on the 20th., therefore Trump remains President until the election issues are resolved.

Was the foregoing scenario I just penned out what the protestors and Trump envisioned?

Or did Trump talk the talk but never thought his people would walk the walk?

Was the majority of the protestors there even thought it was going to end up like it did?  It seemed a lot of them were just looky loos, and selfie junkies.

It seemed like a LOT of dumb stupid mistakes with eternal ramifications were made in a SHORT period of time.

And because of this the democrats and their shit bag of tricks will get full leeway.

My 2 cents.

Those who broke a door/window and entered while the police are telling them no are guilty.  Those who also climbed thru a window are also guilty. But for tresspass and not the BS that the media is spewing like terrorism, coup, etc...

But at 1 point the vids show, the guards are letting people walk in only a few feet in front of them.  So those are not guilty.  A reasonable person would assume since the door was open and they didn't' see it being broken, and the guards are not saying anything, it's OK to enter and follow the crowd.

This is a very interesting point.  On one side, what happened clearly showed that this was not an actual insurrection, but rather a non-violent impromptu US Capitol sit-in.  On the other side, it might be viewed, as a missed opportunity...

Trump may have envisioned something happening last Wednesday, but let's not give all the credit to Trump.  What I saw on that day were American patriots exercising their 1st Amendment Right to express their grievances, to their government.

And now the democrats and their asshole allies like the MSM are taking advantage of the situation to further destroy Trump and the GOP.  And because of this the democrats and their shit bag of tricks will get full leeway.
Yes, no doubt the Democrats will take partisan advantage, of this event.  However, I point out, the so-called Republican leadership will not mount a strong defense, of their constituents that participated and/or were sympathetic.  Once one realizes this contradiction, one will realize, who really is pulling the strings, on both sides, of the fence.
