There is no justification for Double-posting and Cross-posting
« on: January 13, 2021, 03:53:42 PM »
Most people are using the "Unread Posts" feature on the forum to see what's new.  That means you can get your new message to most members by posting it ONCE.

Posting an identical message more than once in the same thread (Double-posting), or across more than one topic, forum or email list (Cross-posting) simply wastes everyones' time, clutters up threads, and is usually only relevant to one of the topics.  Having a message show up more than once in the Unread Posts list benefits nobody.

People get banned for this on other sites.  That's how serious it is.

Twenty Five Forum Posting Etiquette Tips
Quote
11. Do not double post (post the same message twice in one thread) or cross post (place the same message across several forums).

So if the president posted a new video, under your thoughts it can only be posted in 1 thread?  Or you must wait for another member to post the same video.  Even if relevant to multiple threads.   Interesting as many people are guilty of doing this, was my post the straw that broke your back?

.

I'll reply, because you're too stupid to get it on your own.

Post the comment, video, whatever ONCE, then copy the link to your comment.  Post that link wherever you wish.

One message -- one or more links back to that message.

What you are doing is SPAMMING the forum.  Once is enough.

Simple.  Proper.  Even a troll can do it!

When you Spam multiple threads, the replies get spilt up into different threads, too.  I guess you think they ought to cross-post their replies, too?

One message -- one place to reply -- one discussion thread.

OMG -- why does an IT guy not get this?
