OF, Aletheuo,

First attempt at "homesteader's wine".   Regular folk (of which I am one) made wine from leftover fruit.  My case, have a tangerine tree that yields a lot of fruit, but its sour.  Nobody likes them except the neighbor who puts them on top of their lucky mochi for New Years.  So if I can make this work, the tangerines won't go to waste.

Tangerine juice has been fermenting 6 days now.  Released "gas" smells like a alcohol and bread dough.  So I think it's okay so far.  Will give the stuff a taste in two weeks.  Hope nobody dies.  If the stuff is any good,  trade for vegetables or bullets?   Kidding.

Love the "fermenting gauges".   :shaka:
I got a big Sea Grape tree in my yard.
Heard they make wine out of that.

Dragged out my portable shooting bench to the lanai and got some air rifle trigger time, aperture sight style.  Plus, the old Diana 48/52 is a moderate workout to cock many times in a row.    :shaka:

Proper rifle handling and shooting are not like riding a bicycle I have found over the decades.

Not being of the sort to trust glass and holo optics to be always there, the need for iron sight practice.

Nice, sea grape wine would be another  prep in your bag of tricks.  But, you first :D.

Feb 21, strained and bottled the stuff into 5 twist top repurposed wine bottles.    Couldn't wait two weeks for it to "age".   Drank three bottles from Feb 25-28th.  Added home made sugar simple syrup which sweetened the "wine" a bit.  Tastes almost as good as store bought.  Using no chemicals;  just cleaning  stuff with soap/water and using common bread yeast and white sugar "can be done".   I think this will be good to use in SHTF situations for consumption and barter.

Continuing to shop (watching pricing and stock) of reloading components.  Been buying boolits and brass regularly, but I think I'm good on brass for a while.  If I see some really good pricing, I'll jump on it.

Otherwise, nothing special.  Maybe looking at what canned goods and Mountain House type foods that should be used/consumed/given away and refreshed.  I saw Mountain House foods coming back into stock online recently.

Today I installed another rain barrel next to the first one.  With two barrels hopefully I can sustain my garden without depending too much on tapwater.

I also am trying composting and re-using my initial investment of potting soil by revitalizing it using homemade compost from kitchen scraps, yard leaves and grass clippings from mowing the lawn.

I don't think I'll reach independent homestead levels but it's a fun endeavor and keeps me busy and occupied.  At the very least if the SHTF I'll be a bit better off than some people.

And I'm still making an effort to maintain and improve physical fitness just in case I need to fight off the zombie hoards and any other retard assholes out there....

Right now I just started with piles.  Thanks about the vermicomposting.  I've been watching videos online and haven't decided yet.  Going to see if the piles work out ok.
