I thought this was an american film.
Still, they could have made the voice actors speak in pidgeon-russian.

For decades, Hollywood cast actors with British accents to play Germans, Norwegians, or any character who spoke a language other than English.

As long as the accent wasn't "American," any "foreign accent" speaking English was okay for creating the illusion desired.

Every time someone mentions a film where actors speak English but in a foreign accent, my first thought is of Lili Von Shtupp from Blazing Saddles!

Nah, wouldn't be nearly as exciting.

That looks like a good movie. Not exactly Stalingrad but you have to admit those Russians have pretty darn good cinema. If someone tried to make a Eugene Stoner movie it would be "reeeeeeeeeee" for months

Erm... maybe the Russians label their firearms differently, but the AK is not a submachine gun.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Nah, it was based on the German STG-44, select fire assault rifle.

The Russians already had a decent submachine gun, the PPSh-4 burp gun.

Very Good!
This is a pro-gun forum and you nailed it!

Submachine gun??   ???

So, the Germans developed a machine gun just for their U-boat crews?

Except if they showed the grunts in RVN with jammed actions being overrun.
