Anyone Investing in Crypto Currency Right Now?
« on: February 01, 2021, 03:43:09 PM »
I have a little fun money to play around with. I just sold my long time stock hold in the S&P 500. More than doubled my money and now I want to invest in Cryptos. My broker only deals in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Etherium and DogeCoin.

Does anyone have any experience in crypto investing? Any strategies other than buy low, sell high. I have been studying the 4 I can buy and I think Etherium has the most upside potential in the short term and Bitcoin seems to have the edge over the long term.

Old strategy was get in early and hopefully pick a winner.  It's a bit harder now to do that.  It's really volatile and luck based.   Buy low and look for fear of inflation or if other investments do poorly that normally leads to a rise in crypto prices.

I use TD Ameritrade for all of my IRA’s and stock purchases/sales and options contracts. And they recommended WeBull for trading in Cryptos. I signed up for an account and I am waiting for approval. WeBull has apps and software.

It’s been obvious for years that he has terrible reading comprehension and low intelligence.     Can’t follow instructions, either.  :shake:

After I have exposed all his lies and exaggerations over the years he is even more ignorant thinking I would even listen to any advice that he would have. Someone who is that stupid to allow himself to get ripped off by scam artists and continue to do it as “calculated risks” should not be giving investment advice.   But the tell tale sign of even lesser intelligence is the fact I keep telling him he is so stupid I won’t waste my time with him nor even talk to him anymore and yet he thinks its okay to continue trying to talk to me. I think that shows a lack of self confidence and self control. Either that or he has daddy issues and is looking attention and acceptance from someone older than him. What a moron. 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

You don’t get it pissant. No one here is interested in what you have to say. You have lied so much and made shit up so much you have NO CREDIBILITY here.

You appear like a spoiled little millennial who went to a private school paid for by mommy and daddy. Has zero to little life experience and what little you have you don’t learn from your mistakes. You are completely self absorbed and a narcissist and post because everything is about you. You post to satisfy your own ego. No one here cares. Get it? If you died tomorrow people on this board would rejoice.

I know you you have daddy issues and want attention from an old guy like me. Why else would you continue to quote me and then get blasted and abused if you didn’t want the attention?  Only people with zero self esteem would continue to do that.

Man someone is fairly obsessed over me.  Everything he just posted posts can be applied to himself.  Echo chambers can be scary.   Uses age as absolute wisdom.  I guess us millennial term that could fit is boomer thought.  Contrary to your popular belief confidence is not caving in to the "collective". I am my own person, I have my own opinions.  If you agree or don't that's up to you.  There's are others here,  many who probablt don't want to deal with bullies like yourself and others.  Every conversation has two sides.
Still waiting on proof of many fakenews he posted, while calling me a lier. Biden still president,   courts didn't prove shit.

I had played with crypto about 5 years ago, since then it has changed enough that i really could care less.  If you want a secure anonymous way to send money to someone, stick to the folding type.  As far as I am aware, there is really only one crypto that is secure enough that you wont be able to track it back to someone and that is Monero(xmr).  Bitcoin especially is a giant ledger that you can see anything going on in the chain, so if you know who owns a particular wallet address you can track other wallets by association.  You also have to watch out for new coins that have nothing behind them, they are there just as basically a scam AKA Sh!tcoins.  Probably some are still around,
Anyway, investing in just a coin is fine if you have money you don't care about.  Personally i wouldn't invest anything into the market but that is just me. I have made a little bit of money trading coins back and forth but stopped when they started to introduce the know your customer donk.  Basically unko Sam wanted his piece of the action and under anti money laundering measures if you wanted to use the trading platforms you had to supply your personal info.  Crypto was supposed to be founded on anonymity.  I had done some mining on my computer via coin pools, even tried some ASIC miners and picked up a little bit of coinage that way.  There were also things called faucets, it is kind of like the samples or lure to pull you into sites.  They would give you small amounts of bitcoin for clicking or doing simple tasks. Enough to add up to almost nothing.
You can still use coin trading platforms,  a lot of them went out of country because of regulations and some do not let users from the US of A use their services.  Bittrex and Polonix are 2 big ones, one of which runes like wall street complete with margin trading.  This is where you can make or lose big money.  A lot has become computer driven trading, unlike it was in the beginning.  Early platforms weren't too trustworthy, search Mt Gox and Cryptsy.
There was also automated funding systems set up at one point to act as a catalyst for new projects /  innovation which fell apart pretty quickly, it had used etheruim as the medium, I forget the name.
Any how, it you want to invest do so at your own risk.  I wouldn't recommend buying altcoins like doge, etherium, litecoin etc  but it is your money and this is just my 2 cents.  You can try coinbase, they are a fiat to coin exchange.

About the same for me. A bunch of buddies got into a few crypto currencies, not Bitcoin.  I started with a little bit and wanted to see where it went.  We were buying fractions at that point. Sort of like how I treated online poker when it first came out.  Just have fun and see what happens.  Couldn't really find convenient and dependable way to "utilize" the gains, so pawned them off to the buddies who got me into the stuff and haven't really looked back.

Just don't become this guy...   :shake:   :geekdanc:

Man who can’t remember password
stands to lose $220 million bitcoin cache

Quote
Last month, the price of bitcoins hit an all-time high, over $20,000 each. This was
both a promising and infuriating development for German software programmer
Stefan Thomas.

Thomas, who lives in San Francisco, has a digital wallet stuffed with 7,002 bitcoins
worth over $220 million. The only problem? He doesn’t remember the password.

According to the New York Times, Thomas stored the bitcoins on an IronKey hard
drive in 2011 that gives users 10 guesses at the password before they are encrypted
forever. So far, he’s used eight guesses. He lost the paper with the password written
on it the same year he got the bitcoins.

https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-220-million-bitcoin-cant-remember-password-20210113-rkzp4tsm5rfmnjbgd3ngzyawum-story.html

I wonder if he ever backed up his IronKey.  I had one of those.  If you have a backup of the IronKey thumb drive on your hard drive, you can try to access the backup as many times as you want without locking out the thumb drive.  So, in that case, he could have unlimited tries at unlocking it, not just the 10 he chose in the IronKey settings.  Hopefully someone smarter than him has brought that up.

Sucks to be so rich that you aren't overly worried about losing $220M.   :geekdanc:
