Can anyone give me directions to the range near Ocean View?  I wanted to drive down from Waimea for a day of smallbore shooting.  Are there any rules or tips for shooting there?  Of course, I always police my trash and only shoot at paper.  Thanks for your help.

I hope someone replies as I have heard of a place where people shoot down in ocean View but I have not been able to determine the exact location. I have heard rumors it is down the Road to the Sea but you need 4-wheel drive to get there. Yet I have talked to people who say they drove their car there. I have heard it is near the top of the subdivision in a crater/trash dump area. But I have not found it. And I heard it was down in the Southpoint Area but I have not been able to verify the location. All I know is that everyone says it is not really a range but just a casual place to shoot.

Could you be talking about Manuka? I think its located if you're driving towards ocean view from Kona, you see a sign on the mauka side of the road that says Manuka reserve or something like that then just down the road past that sign also on the mauka side is a well traveled looking dirt road that goes up. I am guessing this is where the range is at although I did not have a chance to drive up the road to see for sure. I know that a long time ago I went with my dad shooting somewhere right in that area im guessing it was the same place. I cant remember where exactly its at even though I drove by last week Its after miloli'i and before ocean view lets put it that way.

There's a range in Glenwood, where it's actually legal to shoot, but you'll have to join the club.  Applications are available at Maebo's Noodle Factory on Tuesdays and Thursdays; ask for Will.

If it's manuka you are going to need a current hunting license/permit and you are limited to .22 mag as the minimum hunting round.  Don't forget your orange vest.  Or you could do what crazy cat suggested.
