That must mean you don't respect the majority of members here, because there are very many more members than just a "few".

Respect really isn't something that "goes both ways."  And if he doesn't get that, I'm not surprised.

You absolutely can respect someone who doesn't respect you if you're mature enough to accept the truth that maybe you aren't the most respect-worthy person in everyone's opinion.  Also, not everyone knows you well enough to give you the respect you deserve. 

This isn't a Christmas gift exchange where you only buy presents for the people who bought one for you. That's a petty way to go through life.  "I won't like you unless you like me first."

I've respected lots of people I knew never had respect for me.  And I know many people I never respected who did in fact respect me.  I don't know how many times I've discovered someone who didn't like or respect me at first and changed their minds after getting to know me better.

True mutual respect is sometimes difficult to come by, especially when so many people have been taught they are the center of their universe.
