Heard mostly bad stuff about that shop. Especially if you're law enforcement or military. Never been there just for that reason. Could be wrong but meh, I choose not to waste my time.

I'm a noob also and checked out that place.  I let the owner know up front that I'm a noob and he had a lot of patience with me.  I told him that i'm looking for a red dot around $240.  His response was "how about under $200?". He also took time to explain things about the AR and other topics which was very educational. 

I did read on yelp he had some bad reviews, but he seems like the kind of guy that if you give respect to, he will show it back.  But if you come in with a cocky or know it all attitude, you will get attitude back.

Change here.  Just became a firearm owner about 1 month ago.  I'm new to the firearm culture and community and so far, everyone has been super cool about explaining things to me.  Especially the shops who probably have the same noob questions all the time.

I ended up going to SEC and buying a new g19 gen 4 couple days ago and I decided on another route for my ar15 pursuits so I probably won't be seeing that guy for some time.

SEC has been really good to me, I ask them every dumb question under the sun and they always help me out. Only time I had a bad experience was when the short girl with the glasses gave me the incorrect quote for a stock from Magpul. Other than that I've been great

I'm Tony from Honolulu. I'm staunch believer in The Second Amendment; It's my opinion that there would be no Constitution if it were not for the Second Amendment; the Second Amendment makes the remainder of The Constitution possible.  I'm always seeking  to learn as much as I can about guns, shooting, and shooting sports. I have a strong interest in competition shooting; everything from 3 gun, IPSC and IDPA, to Cowboy Action shooting. I also have a strong interest in learning as much as I can about self and home defense. I'll also be honest and admit that I also want to own guns because I'm an American and The Constitution says I have a right to.

I look forward to meeting the people here and learning all that you have to share.

My name is Dirck...I was just doing random searches on firearms and came across 2aHawaii...really glad about finding it. I have always been
around one type of gun or another...a closet gunner I am...just never bought my own firearm...not anything that would require a background
check...I spent many years playing paintball and that, I guess satisfied my gun itch enough...spent the last 10 years or so building and modifying
cars for fun and well, now my gun itch has maxed out...currently working on slimming down on all my car toys and turning them into a new type
of collection...
Also...gotta say a big thanks to Steve B out there for re-igniting a passion for the 2nd amendment.

I have always had an interest in firearms, but when I lived at home, house rules were no firearms in the home.

So when I moved out, I thought I was going to buy something right away...wrong.  I proposed to my gf so had to save for the wedding and ring.  Then we bought a condo so I had to save for that. 

Now things have settled so we are finally ready to start our firearm collection.

  My name is Rocky and seeing how OldFart  is not getting enough response for a winner in the drawing, I thought I might introduce myself, something I've never done.
I have been on 2a since October 24, 2013.
My  wife and I  enjoy shooting handguns but she really prefers rifle and continually strives for greater distance.
We reload,  like to attend and assist with HDF, HRA, LIFE events and like to get others get interested in firearms as well as helping them become safer and better shooters.

Howdy V and welcome. Your username reminded me of a cool tv series I watched in the 80's. Very ambitious to want to design a firearm. There is a newly created female area here on the forum https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?board=51.0 Nobody who is in the right mind wants to kill anyone. The Hawaii Defense Foundation is a good pathway to the state required training to own a handgun. The HDF frequently has ladies turn out for its monthly shoots and has recently devoted time for only women shooters to train. All the best.

Whatever your motivation is, you will find like-minded individuals right here.
If you like target shooting but don't like noise and blast, you could try airguns.
I would guess that many members here started with bb guns or airsoft guns.
Then they got the itch to shoot real guns. After that you might get addicted.
