Hi, I've been following the board for about a week now and figured I should say hello.  I'm from Honolulu and recently made my first firearm purchases.  I strongly believe in our 2nd Amendment rights and hope not to only to learn more about them, but also about firearms through you all.  Thanks!

Yo folks,

----pidgen on mode... -------

Yo.. I Grew up in HI.   I left after I when grad HI school..... been living in Norcal for 24+ years.... (no ask me when I when grad, you just going make me feel old !!)

----ok, pidgen off mode... -----

Anyway....  I bought a SW 3913 9mm back in 1989/1990 in NorCal and shot it quite a bit for years.. and for some reason I lost interest.... now I'm back 15+ years later and want to shoot better, i got back into because of Top Shot and (don't hate me) Son's of Guns (now I know that show SOG is entertainment only!  I kinda hate the show cause of the soap opera effect but it's still kinda entertaining....  I know better... but still...it's like watching a train wreck !  OCC is the same thing...

Anyways... So... I cleaned my 9mm and took her to the range in CA... Man I sucked... gotta learn how to shoot again......

I've read everything online, everything !  THR, TFL, CALGUNS, SIG Forums......   now my head is spinning...  (Stance, Grip, Elbows, Trigger Pull, Followthru, etc. etc. etc... )

I was thinking of heading to a range in HI to rent a HG (SP2022, XD9, MP, G17) and shoot some rds but the only thing I could find was in Waikiki... I was like F--k That !  no way....   So then I found this other place in Downtown called Magnum that has an indoor range... any good?  If I show up I have no buddy, no gun (since my gun is in CA)... any issue with that ?   (CA has an issue with that due to suicide stuff)..

Also from the HI laws I couldn't find if I could transport my gun from CA to HI for vacation reasons and take her to one of the ranges here, since I don't live here.... and I don't want to reg her here since I'll leave the state in 14 days or something..

Sorry if this has been asked before..... limited amount of time here and comming back (I hope) in a year or sooner...

Lates, Mahalo's..... and good night...

oh brah, I only gain weight when I go back.....Zippy's, Ox Tail, Liliha Bakery, Sugoi's, Mitsuken Okazuya, Helenna's, Ted's Pies... OMG !!!!!!!!!!!

No offense to the Waikiki range but it sucks. They rent chained up guns by the bullet to people. It's very expensive that way.

Magnum firearms will rent you a hand gun without having a buddy there.
They gave a relatively good assortment of pistols for rent. I think it's $15 to shoot for the day, $20 rental + whatever ammunition you use.

Make sure you go when Brian is working, he's a cool guy.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Welcome to the forum.  Bringing your pistol out here shouldn't be a problem, as long as your record is clean.  You'd just go through the firearms declaration process at the airport for transporting an unloaded firearm in your checked baggage.  Then, after arriving, you have three days to register it downtown.  They will charge you $19.25 to run your prints if you've never registered a gun in Hawaii before.  The law in Hawaii allows you to have a firearm in your "place of sojourn", which would include a hotel room, or relatives you're staying with.

All that said, I don't know if I'd do it or not.  If you've got something on your record, it could make an unnecessary hassle for you.  They were pretty cool when I registered mine, but it could have been bad, since I had a bench warrant out for my arrest, from a missed court date for a traffic ticket a few years back.  I thought I had paid my fines, but apparently if you're cited for no insurance card, you must go to court to have the fine assessed.  Luckily, I was able to get documentation that I had insurance at the time of the stop, because that's like a $1,000 fine!  The point is, I had no idea I was a wanted man until I walked into the cop shop with my pistolas, and it could have gone pretty badly.  I'd hate to have something like that happen if I was here on vacation!  Hope that helps you make an informed decision, and again, welcome to the forum!

If I may offer some well-intentioned criticism, small black text on a maroon background makes your web site very difficult to read. I would highly recommend altering the coloring to increase contrast.

This is how it appears on my computer:

Actually, it looks pretty maroon on my computer, too.  Not bashing it, I think it looks pretty cool with the maroon/red background, but maybe try white text and see how that does?

Yeah that's pretty bad.  Lighten the background or the font for more contrast as suggested.  Not who thought or saw that as a good choice but maybe they need to preview things or get more input/feedback before a final decision is made.  Brighter pages are more inviting and present an environment for viewers to want to look for more information.  Darker colors are less so and actually disuade people from spending any time or attention to finding out what the website is about.

It looks like Yahoo Site Builder doesn't code very well for WebKit. This means that people visiting the site using Chrome and Safari are going to see something different than you intended.
