With the popularity of 40 caliber handguns on the rise, I figured I'd do a 2 gun shootout.

Pitting the highly regarded Glock 22 against the little known S&W 4043.

The Glock 22 is a striker fired, semi automatic pistol with a reputation for reliability.
It has a 4.49 inch barrel and an overall length of 7.32 inches.
Weight is 22.92 ounces.
Magazine capacity is 15 rounds (10 rounds in restricted states)

The 4043 is a double action only (DAO) pistol that sports an alloy frame and stainless steel slide and barrel.
It has a 4 inch barrel and an overall length of 7&1/2 inches.
Weight is 28 ounces (empty)
Magazine capacity is 11 rounds (10 rounds in restricted states)

Shooting results are in.

I used Winchester white box fmj 165 grain ammo.

I fired 5 shot groups at 10 yards
10 shot groups at 10 yards &
10 shot groups at 15 yards.

Finally I fired 5 shot groups at 7 yards, as fast as I could pull the trigger.

Then I just had fun.

Results can be seen in the pictures.

Observations are as follows...
I had zero malfunctions of any kind with either firearm.
Both functioned flawlessly.

Accuracy was excellent with both firearms.
I fired all shots from a standing 2 handed position with no other support.

The DAO trigger of the S&W was noticeably longer and slower than the Glock trigger.

Both sights were easy to pickup and see, with my aging eyes.

Good review.  How about adding some comments on how these two compared in terms of ease of control (e.g., muzzle flip, sighting) and general feel (grip angle, placement of the mag release, safety etc) of the handgun in your hands. It would be subjective but would still be useful information. Sort of like comparing the Android and iPhone. Both operate similarly (although debatable) but the iPhone is supposedly ranked higher when it comes to the fun factor.

The problem with comparing muzzle flip, recoil and feeling is its so subjective.

Both of the pistols (in my opinion) have minimal muzzle flip.

Neither one is vastly superior to the other in ergonomics, grip angle etc...

Works for me.
