T posts at kokohead rifle side
« on: February 14, 2021, 07:27:40 AM »
Hi, its been a long time since going kokohead, rifle side, and i was wondering if using t posts are allowed there?

Meaning, am i allowed to pound a t post into the ground and put my targets up? I have gongs too but i wanna use paper shoot n c targets to dial it in.

The last time i went there i had to widdle my young guns target stand to fit the pipes that are in the ground already. Those pipes were so messed up lol. The young gun stand had since been dumped cause i left it out in the weather for bout 2 years.

The post holes (pipes) are really more for distance and convenience than anything.  I think as long as the target is not too wide (doesn't encroach on other lanes) and is placed at least as far as the required minimum (steel at 50 yds for rimfire, 100 yds for centerfire), you should be okay.  Steel has to be suspended/swinging so it "gives" when hit.

It's always a good idea to show the target to the closest RSO and get their okay.

I've seen all sorts of frames used beyond the 100 yd post holes.  Many are low and close to the ground.

I've also seen people shooting at steel targets that don't belong to them!   :wtf:

Thanks flapp. I made this target holder that screws into a vertical hanger. It is suspended above the tpost. So hopefully they will be okay with it. The post is 4 feet tall but i can always pound it down lower

Yea i had people shooting my targets lol. I was wondering why holes were popping up all over the place haha.

I guess Mike's never seen some of the people here shoot!

Lots of new holes in the ground.
