Nevada CCW Apps
« on: February 17, 2021, 08:30:27 AM »
They have a new process starting today.  No walkins allowed for CCW apps.  Must make reservation online.

1) Online appt to walk in

or

2) Submit docs online and they will let you know when to  bring in docs in person an apply

Option 2 makes no sense.

But I've applied and they're much more effecient than HPD.  When we applied had about 40 people in the waiting room.  You take a number and they call you.  They have 5 finger print stations and 5 picture stations. We were in and out in less than 20 mins.  Compared to HPD, with just 1 person in front of you in line, you're there for 20  mins easily.

Looks like so far they're allowing 30 days in advance for appts.  So plan accordingly.

If you want one, LMK. I throw in the AZ along with it.  ;)

Mind you Nevada permit does not cover LV

Nevada permit is Nevada permit, not Nevada except Clark County or City of LV. There is not local preemption of State firearm laws. CLV is always a pain in the ass. They have tried to harrass people and say it doesn't apply, but when the law was revised back in 2015, it ended the confusion.

We only go to NV and a NV permit allows me to CCW within 1000 feet of a school (school zone federal law).  You need that states issued permit to do so.  Although it's more of an add on charge. in 2018, 60 people were charged with violating it.  1 has a court case because he was 996 feet from a school zone and pulled over for tint.

Correct, they changed the permit from county to state wide. They also got rid of the "blue cards" which only allowed you to CCW a specific handgun.  Now you can CCW any handgun.

Counties in the NV are harder to tell compared to HI. Here we're separated by water, Honolulu county, maui county, etc...In NV, you have to look at the street signs. They're different in each county.  So very easy to miss.

Nevada residents must apply within the county residing in. LVMPD accepts only Clark County.

That only means if you are a NV resident, you must apply in the county where you live.  Can't go to Pahrump to apply if you live in Clark Co.

For out of state (non-resident) applicants, you can apply in any county.  The kicker is, you have to go back to the same county to renew.

No matter which of those applies, your NV CCW permit is good in all counties across the state.
