Broken link.   :shaka:

This is no dumber than when the original builder came back and said, "Oh, that's just a natural oxidation process that protects the metal over time."   :wtf:  That's the definition of RUST!  And the state bought that lie!

Who's worse?  The liars who fool our public officials, or the people we pay handsomely to manage our state being fooled?

Common sense and basic science was all it would have taken to ensure the stadium wasn't going to be rusted through in a couple of generations.

Can't have buildings last forever.  Need those construction contracts and kickbacks flowing so everyone in high government can share in the wealth.

Would cost less if you removed the pork

"The plan calls for a 35,000-seat stadium and is expected to cover 98 acres.
It includes modernizing the space by building mixed-use developments, a rail station, hotels, retail centers and more"

When is the last time the attendance got over say 20k?  I laughed when Duke proposed prohibiting alcohol at the games.  Attendance, even back then, would've been reduced to like 10k.

Pro Bowl?  I think Hawaii prob lost hosting that moving forward.

Sure seems like Honolulu has an Penis envy problem.
They want "big" city goodies such as trains,
stadiums, concert halls, Zoo, Aquarium, Marina, airport
Harbor, and the like.
Honolulu wants to be like a major world class metropolitan
area like New York city, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco,
Chicago et al.
While Honolulu is just as corrupted by Democrat party rule
and favoritism as those "great" cities, Honolulu simply does
not have the tax base or population to carry off those lofty goals.

Raze the stadium and give it up. Let the land go fallow and be
taken over by the homeless. Concentrate all your homeless there.
Get them out of the parks, off the beaches, and off your city streets.
Fence the area off, provide services, and control access.

There,  I just cheaply solved two of Honolulu's big problems and
I hate the place.

Some of the newly renovated high school fields are pretty darn awesome.  At least turf wise.  Haven't been to Kailua's field, but Mililani's field and stadium could handle a decent game.  Waipio complex as well.  But yeah, no beeah.

Didn't COVID lockdown "prove" that social distancing saves lives?  Not just from COVID, but from seasonal flu and other diseases?

Why on Earth would we spend all that money on a project designed to force people to abandon that life-saving behavior?  Squeezing tens of thousands into close quarters is counter-intuitive to what the state continues to preach -- that limiting the size of gatherings and keeping your distance is a GOOD THING!

Where are the COVID Karens now? They should be protesting and screaming in front of the Capital building to stop this insanity!
