Apparently, they didn't know the owner lived in the back of the store.  I used to spend many an overnight in my store.  Armed.

If this happened in Hawaii.  The owner would go to jail. UNLESS his life was threatend first.

Americans and their guns...pffttt...

One article says he heard one of them say "kill him", so he opened fire. The other article says the ramming of vehicle through the wall sounded like gunfire, so he fired. The same article said he only saw silhouettes when he went to investigate.

It's just too bad the other two survived. Now the taxpayers have to pay the catch-and-release fees for them, as well as the price future victims will pay.

Oh no! He used an "assault style" AR-15 with a magazine over 10 rounds to shoot these poor innocent men who unknowingly drove their car into his shop... If only we had banned his evil 30 round magazine, these 3 young men may still be in good health!

At this point, I would tend to disagree with this statement. Hawaii has proven pretty good for self-defense.   Islanders don't seem too keen on people trying to kill and hurt  them, just most of them won't get up and advocate for it.  For the self-defense incidents we have had in the last few years, I'm not nearly as worried as I was when I first thought about self-defense here.

This incident is a clear argument for gun control.

See, if US citizens couldn't have guns then there would be no gun stores to rob, those poor young men would never have been tempted into a life of crime and this would never have happened .

Not for nothing... but it seems like you have to "prove" your justified in using a fire arm to protect your home, family and property here.... or your going to the calaboose real quick also...
