Okay I gave this show one episode to catch my interest or not. I have to say that surprisngly I kinda liked it. I find it a competition show that benefits some outstanding charities rather than specific individuals out for themselves. In addition, the lack of a blathering cheerleader drum beating the "drama factor" is absolutely fine with me.
Did't see a lot of detailed emphasis on the weapons used but as they will likely be making repeat appearences that may be mitigated. I had hoped here would be some "training" involved rather than just throwing them into the fire (so-to-speak) and there was, they just didn't spend a lot of time showing it all. A little heavy on the "hero worship" thing, but I can undestand that to an extent as it was te first episode and there are some truly remarkable "Operators" participating.
I was actually surprised by a few things:
*Producers selected celebrities that aren't from the typical "hypocrit" pool of HollyWood - no anti-gunners that get paid to use them as they play characters
*The show of humility and respect by the celebs
*The respect of the Operators earned by the celebs based on performance on the course - appeared genuine to me
*The marksmanship skills displayed by all, familiar with the weapons used and not so much
*The Operators have to participate rather than just "coach" or play instuctor/tutor
*The course appears to have ALL types of terrain available to challenge teams rathr than a sigle static environment - more variables to tax and test the ability to overcome
No, not a fan of Clark, myself, but that aside I thought the show was different from the plethora of "so-called reality" shows that now permeate the airwaves. This one is more competition without the drama whch I am totally cool with. Performance based rewards and advancement and the money earned goes to some great charities, a couple of which I support personally.
I like that the producers stepped outside the moldy box on this one. Not entirely convinced it has true longevity but I am willing to give it chance to keep my interest. Guns presented in a responsible manner, no (fake assed) drama, no cheerleader, no backstabbing, no gossip filled interview segmets, performance based advancement and the charities gaining the benefit are more than worthy.
