What's the range like these days?
« on: March 27, 2021, 09:23:13 PM »
I've got a small group of people who I want to take shooting for their first time. If it happens, it needs to happen before April 16.

First, what's open? Pistol? Rifle? Silhouette? The website says silhouette is closed, but it's still got the warnings about the "upcoming" lead remediation project in November.

Next, what's the time protocol? I know that for a brief time, windows were scheduled and of short duration. What's the sitch now?

Lastly, "groups." If I show up with 3-4 people with the intention of us sharing a shooting station, is that still ok? Or are there limits on the size/composition of groups due to covid?

Hi Tom,

Pistol range has only even number points open to allow social distance.
Generally, mornings are crowded. Things slow down in the afternoon.
3-4 people is ok.
Wear your mask and don't go around kissing and hugging guys.

With gas being $3.47/gal and 5.56 about a dollar a round, it can get prohibitive.

My math could be off but I figure a range session for me now would cost about $105, figuring the cost of 100 rounds and the extra amount of gas to go there.

It used to cost me about $42 for the same last year around this time.  And this is on the low side because I end up shooting more than a 100 rounds.

I used to go every week either on a thursday or friday.

$400 a month is too much right now.  But I might maybe go once a month but haven't had the desire to do so lately.

Rich or hoarders of ammo
I'm the latter
Reloading more than ever too. Labor of love

On saturdays around 2pm is when the pistol safety classes tend to show up.

curious about the rifle-side, weekday afternoons from 12 on.  busy? or space-readily-available?
that's when I used to go, years ago.

Came at 1. Half empty parking lot. Rifle side half empty. Pistol side 75% full. Overcast. 15mph wind out of the SE, beautiful day to shoot pistol.

They are doing the repair on the railroad ties on the other side of Kokohead.
