I agree, this would be great. The key to gun safety in this country isint making it harder to get them, but proper training with them. Unfortunately the less available places are for people to use their weapons and become competent with them the more you get accidents and people who have never  shot a gun keeping one loaded in their nighstand 

Simunition sucks, especially when your instructors are asshole Marine Sergeants. Those things break skin even with a couple layers of clothing on.  With pistols, it shouldn't be too bad, but it's almost pointless with rifles as you can't obtain any kind of cheekweld or look down the sights with the masks on.

My (least) favorite memory was buddy rushing an enemy position with simunition flying overhead when the instructor behind my group (asshole Marine Sergeant) decided I wasn't rushing fast enough and took aim between my legs to "motivate" me, missing my sack by about a half inch, breaking skin. A friend of mine wasn't so lucky...

You think that's bad, there's airsoft stuff out there that's a lot worse than that.  Think about stuff like chipped teeth, balls embedded into players' flesh, and some ammo that'll shatter glass quite easily.

Ummmm................yeah you ever see Mojo suited up to play airsoft?  He's got more stuff on that some of the guys deploying for real combat (less plates).

Seriously though man, even with all the clothing and stuff...........if a guy is shooting a juiced up airsoft gun you can still get messed up.

Only thing required where we train is a mask, but after the last time Ill be wearing some additional gear under my bdu's.  Generally if it protects you in airsoft it will protect you from simunitions.  The only thing Id recommend in addition to protective clothing is a cup.  I have yet to use a 5.56 sim gun, all we have are MP5's and Sig 228's.

Eye, throat, groin at a minimum.  Full head gear with 5.56 and follow the stand-offs.  Any certified SIMS instructor worth anything will make their students abide by this.

We often roll with the minimum protection as it keeps you more honest.  The more padded up you get, the more willing guys are to "game it" and take hits to get hits. 


And yes it can sting.
