Doesn't mean we should get rid of the appointment system. Its pretty restrictive if to purchase a gun you have to physically stand in a "8 hour" line. And be mandated by law to do so. Basically losing 1-2 days of work every purchase. A luxury many gun owners can't afford. I would aruge is worse than waiting 90 days. If you infinitely can't buy a gun because of not being able to sacrifice wages and time. Big difference from appointments which have all been extremely quick for me.
#facepalm. You're forgetting say for some reason you're unable to get any kind of appointment, then you are defacto being banned from exercising your 2a right. At least standing in line would guarantee being serviced that day in theory.
Read my post slowly and again. That will rebut some of what you replied. If you still "feel" that the RSVP is less restrictive, read my post again, but even slower. And if you still feel the same way, ask someone to read the post and explain it with pictures and shapes.
One has to ask if we never had RSVP from day 1, would there even be any long wait in line 1 year later? If there are any long lines for reg after 5/10, it's because HPD was doing 1 person every 10-15 minutes. Which is only about 24 people a day.
Some people also cannot get PTA's because they're not able to be on their phone checking HPD all day or work with a computer (ie construction worker). So to say waiting in line and losing 1-2 days of work is worst than the 90 days, is wrong. I know many who have been trying since June to get a PTA. I'm 1 of them. I do not spend every 10 minutes checking their website. Also some employers do not let you take 1-2 hours off. You would have to take the entire day, and some even you have to take a minimum of 3 days. See Yukutake/Kikuewa lawsuit about blocks of days off.
Yes, appointments are quick. I've been to a few and what you have to realize is while they're done with you, HPD is just sitting there waiting for the next person to show up, when they could be servicing someone else. So that is the reason why they're quick. They could be servicing 2-3 people every 10-15 minutes.
But what do I know right? It's what ever is easier for you and not the community.
