What is your take on the Glock 48, pros & cons.  Was thinking of picking up a Glock 19, but the 48 caught my eye.  Mahalo.

I'll try to add some more thoughts when I have more time.  Overall, the Glock 48 doesn't really offer much for me to make me want to buy a Glock 48 over the Glock 19s that I already have.  Not really a dig on the Glock 48, but more that I already have a lot invested in stuff for Glock 19 (mags, holsters, etc). 

Extra grip is useless unless you have large hands.  We capped at 10 round mags.  I prefer it being slightly more conceable.

I've shot the 48 and other subcompact Glocks and they are ok.  At least to me.  Personal preference.  Try shooting a variety (if possible) and then go from there. 

For Glock, since they are in Gen 5 for the 19 (and other pistols).  Nothing really ground breaking for newer Glocks.  While I appreciate the Gen 5 grip shape/texture, I am an oddball that actually likes the Gen 4 grip as-is.  Stuff like having optic ready slides, or other details in the grip and slide serrations.  But a Glock is a Glock.  I've seen many where a person's grip causes the 48 and 43 to malfunction.  I didn't notice that while shooting the same gun though, so YMMV. 

My first question is what is the purpose for this gun?  Are you looking at carrying at home?  (go with the glock 43x or 48)   Are you wanting an all-around gun?  (glock 19)  Is it just going to be used at the range?  (glock 17) Are you wanting to target practice? (glock 34).

G48 has the slimmer grip so it actually feels really really good in the web of my hand. Ive been owning glocks since 2010ish. Ive shot my friends glocks prior to 2010 tho.

Shield arms make 15 rd mags for the g48. But you will have to change out the mag release cause the mag will chew up the OEM mag release. But if you use an aluminum mag release and use oem g48 mags then the mags will eventually wear out and no bueno. keep polymer to polymer and metal on metal. Thats seems to be the only downside.

I liked the g48 so much i bought another. 1 silver slide (first gen) and 1 black slide (2nd gen).

Oooohhh another downside is your limited on light options.
1. Buy a tlr6.
Or 2. Buy recovery tactical rail thingy then add a light. Not much holsters out there so either wait on it or possibly get it custom made.

I just go lightless, i aint going rambo. I agree with the above, g19 for all around. And i too like the gen 4 finger grooves, maybe cause i been shooting with it for so long it became the norm??  But the gen 5 grooveless grips do feel good as well.

Of the two, 19 would be a better all around gun for a first gun.

I agree, for all around go 17 or 19.  The 48 is a single stack so it is s much more slim and was designed to conceal carry.  The one caveat I have here, is that if you do have small hands, maybe you would like the single stack like the 48 versus a double stack like the 17 or 19.

Nah. Whatever you get, shoot it a lot. Kinda tougher with ammo situation tho. But there are things about a gun that can’t really tell just by handling or dry fire.

aftermarket parts, holsters, lights, etc better on the 19.  but 48 parts should catch up in time
people say that the 19 is better to get back on target quicker bc of the extra weight, and i think also due to the wider grip area.  more surface area of the grip contacting your palm results in better control, as long as its not too wide for your hand and then you have to reach too far for the trigger and change grip to reach the mag release. but that is not the case for me with the 19

I'm also along the lines or "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".  or i like to go with what's tried and true, or what has been proven over time.  thats why i got the 19 over the 48.  and i'm not looking to CC it so slimmer doesn't matter to me
whatever fits your hand better and you can shoot better would be the better gun for you.  but hard to tell without shooting it.  bottom line is personal preference, either one will do the job

I have one. I like it.  Feels less blockish than a 19.  The grip isn't that large/long, would be great for CCW if that were allowed here, or CCW in a free state.  Factory sights suck, nothing new.  Overall happy with the purchase and use.

Agreed. Except there are kind of alot of parts already depending how far a person wants to go. warrior poet society traded his glock for a tricked out g48.

1 of my g48 got triji hd, polydat trigger, np3 minus connector, and np3 safety plunger.

2nd g48 has xs minimalist sights, np3 safety plunger and np3 minus connector. Trying to keep this one with oem parts except sights. Lol but we all know that. Both the safety plungers and connectors are oem glock just np3 coated. Really dont feel any difference than stock, just something less i gotta clean and lube often.

Since it has the slimmer frame, i dont think i need to get the extended slide release. I can do it easier than a stock g19 gen 4. Gen 5 g19 is not necessary either cause it protrudes already.
