Is Father's day weekend busy at the range?
« on: June 02, 2021, 08:15:55 PM »
My dad has never shot a gun and said his fathers day present could be shooting a gun. I was wondering if anyone knows whether fathers day weekend is a busy day at the range or just another normal day?

In the past (maybe 2-3 years ago), Shooting Sports Fair (SSF) was held Father's Day weekend.  It was super busy at the range in general.  No SSF last year and this year.

I've been to the range a few times in the past month since things opened up more and the range has been not (ETA) very busy.  I went to the pistol range one weekend in what I thought was "primetime" (around 1000-1300) and it was maybe half full.  As I drove out, rifle was about half full and silhouette was pretty empty.  I was in the action bays the following week and seemed about the same from what I could see of the rifle range and silhouette.  A few others have mentioned things were pretty empty.

I could envision Father's Day weekend being more busy as guys get "the pass" for the day.  But I think many would also be spending time with family.  Overall, I say "chance 'um" and take your dad out shooting!

Overall, it's been less busy due to the stupid high prices for ammo.
What, Me Worry?

In general, the pistol side has been pretty empty the last few months.  But instructors do go after 1pm or so for classes.  So just to be sure, morning would be the best.   Rifle side looked pretty empty too and the silly side in general.  Pretty sure everyones feeling the cost of ammo.
