If Hawaii can't stop violent crime, what will?

One thing about the article that is not accurate when speaking about smuggling firearms in... it happens both legally by new residents not registering their firearms, current residents when they purchase out-of-state on vacation and don't register upon return and illegally by criminals who have them shipped in. And anyone who says that shipping guns in illegally can't happen needs to look to the fireworks displays during Chinese and annual New Years.

HPD data shows that since 2015 the number of homicides on Oahu hasn’t
changed too much. But the percentage of cases involving firearms has been
on the rise since 2017.

So, when guns were used less often, the number of murders since 2015 was "X".

When guns were used more often, the number of murders since 2017 was "X" ("hasn't changed too much").

I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that the TOOL used to commit murder has nothing at all to do with the murder rate.  Further restrictions on guns will not make a bit of difference in how many people are murdered.

Simple deductive reasoning.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Why haven't they banned 80% fireworks and fireworks components? Probably tons of it coming in every day.

"Why haven't they banned 80% fireworks and fireworks components?"
Are they going to ban
Stump remover?
Wood Charcoal?
Gardening sulfur?
Aluminum?
Magnesium?

The internet instructing you how to make this stuff?
