This is the case where the student was participating in an online class session and the teacher saw a bb gun in the background.

I'm glad the students and their families fought back.  Asshole school board....... :grrr:

I hope they use the money to get more guns....just to spite the school admin.

and prominently keep them in the background while the kid has an online class.

Unless the decision makers are held liable as well and have to pay out of their pockets, this type of behavior will continue.

he plaintiffs' lawyers will pocket 1/3 normally.  Between the two settlements mentioned, that's $92K + $72K = $164K / 3 = $54K for lawyers.

So, congratulations go out the the lawyers and firms who also got paid out of the families' settlement amounts.

That leaves $61.3K for the first family, and $48K for the second.  Hopefully they can find something of value to invest it in -- something besides college tuition, unless they want to pursue an actual profession ... not Non-binary trans-women's studies.
