Put yourself in the shoes of an anti-gun advocate having a debate with a 2A supporter.

You bring up the talking point:

"Around 32,000 people are killed every year in the US as the result of firearm use.  That's too many for the supposedly most civilized and advanced country on the planet."

If that's your point, then it begs the question:  "If 32K is too much, then what smaller number would be considered acceptable?"

Again, as an anti-gun supporter interested in saving lives, answer that question:  Where on the scale of 0 to infinity is "too many gun-related deaths?"

Somewhere between 0 to 32K the number starts to become "Too Many."

After voting, discuss why you made your choice.

What constitutes a “gun related death”?

Arbitrary definition? (not to you, rather those to make up those types of polls)

Usually, it's defined as a death caused by gunshot.

Suicides
Murders
Police Shootings
Gang Bangers Shooting Each Other
Accidents
etc...

People supporting new "Common Sense Gun Laws" often pad the numbers with any and all gun-related deaths they can, even though they also pretend the majority of shootings are crimes that can be reduced with new laws.  The larger the number, the more people believe there is a "gun epidemic."

We know that's false, since 60% of gun-related deaths are suicides.

You know you can't really argue with anti-gunner types.
It is like arguing with your mother, she is ALWAYS right.
Best to give them a pat on the back, tell them you love them,
and then go on with life as you see fit.

The main point of arguing with anti 2a is so others can hopefully hear how full of shit they are.  Cause unless something happens to them, there is really no way to change their minds.

1 guy on SSH on FB was super anti. "No need for an assault rifle" type.  Then the realtor who was beaten in the North Shore so bad that her husband had a hard time IDing her, and their daughter tied up, changed his mind.  He knew her and bought an AR shortly after.  He was also big man enough to admit he was wrong.

There there's representative DeCoitte (sp?).  Who is anti 2a, but for the self defense bill this year, he had a hard time voting nay on it.  Because he was a victim once and almost a victim a 2nd time, which he testified on the zoom hearing about.  He had to even mention that he supports MDA, who was also on the zoom call.  That's how conflicted about supporting the bill he was. He also asked questions that made the HPD rep look stupid.  So it took a personal event to change his mind.

No doubt.

But this exercise is to put yourself in that person's shoes, and you are to answer the question:

"If 32K is too many, what number would be acceptable?"

There are lots of factors to consider in adjusting that figure to what would be considered the maximum number of gun deaths per year.

Only suicides?
Justifiable self defense, including police-involved shootings?

Once you categorize the types of situations, the maximum number becomes clear.

300 ish by all rifles combined on average. Compared to 600 by hammer and 180 by golf club.  Those damn assault hammahs.
