It's illegal here, but I remember around 1985 there was a bingo tv show.

In generational terms its new.   People said bad things about the hippies and drugs and sex.   Rock and roll.  Race integrations.  Culture evolves over time and the ones that grew up in a previous culture sometimes find it hard to adapt.

That guy sounds exactly like me when I committed Facebook suicide. I was tired of my friends posting mundane, everyday meals i.e. chicken katsu plate lunch ANYONE can get at a Korean BBQ. WTF? Are you eating lunch with Jesus? Cuz if you are not I really don't care. Once I had a chat on FB with my friend while she was playing Farmville or some other game where she was virtually baking a cake. Then she complained that ugh, she had to cook dinner for her kids because they were complaining about being hungry. WTF?! Duh. Stop pretending in Farmville and go to your real kitchen and make some real food!!!

I think social media at least allows narcissists, extremely self-centered, arrogant folks a "safe space" to outlet their views.  At least without, or less risk of having their teeth pushed in. . .

It is known that Social Media runs AI driven Algos to move the emotional needle of people back and forth to keep their eyes on the format and continue to return to the destination for more dopamine.
There have been more than a few teens that have killed themselves because a Socmed post didnt get as many likes as they had hoped.
There was a terminally ill women who dying wish was that her post would go viral and get relinked so her life would have made some kind of global impact even for a minute before she died.

Before it was everyone striving for the common good.  A healthy and prosperous society benefits everyone.

Now it's a selfish society that preaches "what's in it for me?".
