Stupid government/citizens who think Hawaii can survive without tourism.  You can't have everything.

In my county Hawaii, "we don't need no stinking tourists".
The local government here is set up to run totally off local property
taxes and fees. The government is all that counts anyway right?
Government is the largest employer here with Medical services being #2.
So if I never saw another tourist I don't think it will break our hearts.
Maybe it will incentive-ize the local Democrat voters to leave.
that will just leave the rich and the serfs that serve them.
it will be like the old Hawaii Caste system some here so
fondly dream of.

Kona and Waikoloa might disagree and agree. (First part second part)

Perhaps, but Kona traffic sucks, and Barbieville is full of Calfornicators.
I'm Hamakua side, thankfully. I only go to Hilo Twice a month at most.
and Kona almost never.
