Three of six customers stabbed are in critical condition.

The stabber was shot and killed within a minute of the attack.

How many of the 6 would have died if someone armed with firearms had not stopped him?  At least 3 may still die, or suffer lifelong disabilities from the injuries.

Arguing that knives are a less lethal option than firearms ignores the obvious advantages knives offer.  No background checks, no waiting periods, no limits on the types of knives you can own with few exceptions based on locale, no ammunition cost, no magazine capacity limits, no noise to alert others of the attack, etc. etc.

You might be able to hit someone from a greater distance with a firearm, but a nice bow or crossbow can do that, too.

The authorities knew this person was dangerous, but they did nothing more than follow him.  Apparently, police there have no duty to protect individuals from violent people, just like the US.

Last I knew the law to turn in guns in NZ was ignored by everyone. Of 1.5 Million firearms in the country I think only 500 were turned in. It was about that time that the Police decided they werent going to try and go door to door and make people comply ... funny how that works.

I agree,  go after the criminal not the tool.  If he had fertilizer it could be worse than guns and knives combined.

Imagine if he tried to stab someone who was concealed carrying.

Stab a sheeple?  Piece of cake.

Stab a wolf?  Good luck.....

Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

Years ago I read that some English MD's wanted to outlaw the "Pint" glasses used in Pubs
and to replace them with Plastic.
For public safety.

That is one of the joys of socialized government paid medical care. They start looking for any and all means to lower the numbers of customers to cut the cost.

Looks like how they raise Veal,  Except they usually restrict the calf's movement a little more.
