The words might offend the non-religious types attending.
Just saying.

Speaking for myself....
I'm not a religious zealot or very superstitious. I was raised as Catholic but not very good at it.
But here is something I tell all my kids and friends.
"No talk stink about nobody"
Hawaii is a very small place and everybody knows everybody. The following is a true story:
I moved to this house in Waipahu in 1987. At that time there was a nice couple living next door.
We got along well because they were just nice ordinary working folk and slightly Mormon.
The wife worked at Servco Waipahu and I would see her sometimes when I needed parts for the 4Runner.
Many years passed.
One year, my Mom came over from Maui to visit us for a few days.
She said she was going to go to church with them on Sunday, as my Mom was also a Mormon.
When she came home from church, she said, "Did you know that Vern (the neighbor) is your cousin?"
We shared roots from the Hana side of Maui.
